Fireman the brake controller is still plug and play. We have been splicing into the trailer wiring at the back for along time and it still works on the 06. This customer brought us 2 trucks at the same time and neither had a problem when they left. They came back to purchase another trailer and we noticed the turn signal problem when we hooked them to the new trailer. It still can be done but our decesion has been to not splice any wires on the 06 dodges until we find out how to fix or reset the new system. There are some T connectors that will be available soon that will allow us to unplug the harnes from the back trailer plug. We will then use the wires out of the T connector to hook up plugs in the bed. I have contacted our Dodge dealer to see if he can get us into some training classes that will discuss what truck up fitters can do with this new system. Hope this helps. Any info someone runs across is appreciated.

D/C is still learning,I haven't checked to see if they have a class worth you trying to get into.

The relays D/C currently use do have protection against noise and spikes and would be fine to add remote ckts :D I haven't pulled a std Bosch relay apart to see if they have protection built in or not but I would suspect they do.

OK, this is nothing but a stupid guess...

What about changing the trailer lights over to LEDs? Would their much lower current draw solve the problem?

watch what you plug into, almost all of the dodge and chry. products are using push, pull drivers that run all cicuits either through the p. d. c. or the body side electronics. I only warn you of this so you do not have to purchace a complete p. d. c. or burn out a controller that will not be covered. A dodge and chry. employeed tech. I have seen things routed and tied into these systems, and sometimess its a bad and not covered mess.

tarereynolds your thinking the same way I am. I don't want to fry anything. I'm wanting to learn where the manufacturer want everyone to pull accessorie from as well as how to repair what is causing these problems. I to like the idea of leds pull ing less juice but that is'nt the problem as it is only one turn signal not working. Same bulb on the other side. Jely said he had problems with his line of fire which is L E Ds. which shouldn't have issue either

This isnt really about trailer wiring but I am getting ready to install my gauges and do I need to worry about where I tap for the power for the gauge lighting?

Well thank you Bob, if you really want to help don't talk over us talk in laymans terms

we mortals can all understand.

Without the proper tools you would be lost anyway :-laf A starscan or possibly other high dollar can bus scan tool would be required. I doubt if the aftermarket has any software yet. With the way these electronics work and their cost I recommend you start making friends with somebody who has a starscan

Hello Bob! :-laf

Bob is so right. Most of the auto manufacturers have gone to using scan tools that are unique to the manufacturer. Sure, the generic scan tools will pull standard SAE DTCs, but these new brand-specific scan tools also pull other codes, such body electrical codes, and they can do tons of other troubleshooting that us consumers will never have the capabilities to do. I know the Honda scan tool costs about $5,000, but I think you have to be a dealer in order to get the software updates (which are updated at least every month). I'm sorry to say, that DIYs will not be able to keep up.

Moreover, the technology used will also stay at least a few steps ahead of the training available. Fortunately, the techs have access to the manufacturer's techline for assistance. We'll never get that, anyway.

Good catch! 06 service manual complete. almost 10,000 pages, looks like it included the diesel engine. 179meg before unziping.

There were a couple past year manuals there also.

Thanks
