2006 Megacab 4x4 110k miles. Changing all fluids today and I found two spare parts waiting for me at the transmission drain plug. Anyone know what these belong too?

Total length of the rod/holder is 1. 25". I was thinking some sort of detent ball? The rod appears to be slightly bent. Anyone know if it's important?

I found the problem. It's the G56 Shift assembly. Might be able to go camping next weekend depending on dealer supply. Pic is of my shift assembly sitting on the Jeep tire.

If you a very lucky, it did not cause any broken teeth on the way to the bottom. Try and fish around through the drain hole with a small magnet to be sure or just ignore it as ignorance is bliss:D. I have never been this lucky,

X2, If it didn't ruin something on the way to the bottom, You are VERY lucky, Monte

Did the shift handle feel different just before discovering the parts? Loose its centering detent feel?

Good luck.

The shifter has felt loose. Not sure when it started. The Dodge became a part time driver two years ago when I bought a Civic for commuting. I mostly drive the truck when towing. Here's the Mopar part number in case someone needs it in the future. 5183298AC It would've been cheaper to buy on line. Promised the daughter camping/Jeepin this weekend. The dealer warehouse had one only. Must be low fail.

New Shifter is in. I think I know how it broke. When the truck was new the wife needed two hands to achieve reverse. Mine was broke as if someone forced the truck into reverse.
