I've been having the horn gremlin thing in my 06 and had to pull the negative terminal on the battery to stop it. I could NOT find the horn fuse in the under hood fuse compartment. I've since searched the owner’s manual and cannot find any reference to a horn fuse. WTF?

Any help would be appreciated, this half inch wrench in my pocket is getting old.

IRRC there is electronic ckt protection for the horn in the tipm but no fuse. The horn switch goes through the clock spring to the cluster from the cluster to the tipm.

Could pulling the negative reset the system and fix the problem? It hasn't done it since I pulled the neg but it's only been hours.

In past years the horn has shared a fuse with the AC compressor. Whether that applies here or not I have no idea.

You will need to diagnose it, next time it happens have your electrical tools at the ready instead of the 1/2 wrench. It could be as simple as a bad horn switch. memorize the ckt before hand so when it acts up you will already know your test points and what should be happening where.

Of course it would be a bit easier/faster if you had access to a starscan,but a dvom should get the job done

Bob;

Unfortunately I am illiterate when it comes to electrical diagrams and do not know how to test these circuits. Would the dealer be able to diagnose the problem with their StarScan? Would the horn have to be blowing for them to pinpoint it?

The only way to be 100% sure would be to reproduce the condition unless there is a stored code if for example the issue had been an internal tipm failure.

I had same problem on my 04. 5. I disconnected the horn pad until I got a new one. Replaced it and havent had the problem since:-laf
