Anyone who can't understand why this problem is making us mad doesn't have a trailer or hasn't had the modification done yet. I can't even imagine what problem this "band aid" was intended to solve, but I doubt seriously that it could really solve it.

Mine even sometimes goes off as I shift from Park into Forward gear (passing through reverse) - because when I am moving the trailer, I get in and get my foot on the brake and pull the shifter down quickly enough that my arm doesn't have the door all the way shut yet. And it WILL send anyone standing nearby into the air. I am going to try the seat belt connector jumper as recommended above. Barring that, maybe the relay idea...
