06 Jake Brake Question.

I am trying to figure out what comes with the 06 jake brake for the 6 speed. Do I understand it comes with a vacuum pump that needs to be installed on the front of the block, complete with a new drive belt? Don't the 06's have a built in vacuum pump like my 98 did?



Sounds like we are talking about a 3 hour job if the dealer installs it? The salesman said I can get a 15% discount if I order it with the truck, but it still gets shipped to my dealer so they can install it. Still trying to figure out what it cost?



Do I have to let the dealer install it to still have the factory warrantee on the brake?

I am having the dealer install mine tomorrow, only difference is I have an automatic. I was told that a vacuum pump does need to be installed with a new belt.



Mine was $1700 installed retail. I have a business use credit of $500, there is a $1000 rebate on the truck and another Mega Cab rebate I had for $500. I figure that about makes it free The auto probably requires at least an additional connection to the computer to interface with the transmission, yours may be less.



I'm not sure on the warranty but I will ask for you tomorrow. They are letting me install a bunch of Mopar accessories myself that fall under the 3/36 still. Of course mudflaps, bedrail covers and tube steps are probably a little less involved than the brake.

It's not a bad do-it-yourself installlation. The toughest part for me was trying to figure out how to route and install the new belt. I think I spent about 6 hours, but I tend to take my time with this kind of stuff.

If it's installed before you take delivery of the vehicle the warranty is 3yrs/36,000miles. If installed after delivery warranty is 1yr/12,000miles.

TowPro, remember to have whoever installs it give you the original belt, so you'll have a spare for breakdowns.
