Has anyone else had problems with Inferno Red (?-paint code PRH) on an '06 2500? I drive 90% on pavement, but just a kicked-up grain of sand seems to chip the paint down to primer. If I took the time to count, I probably have several hundred chips on the rocker panels, hood, and even on the door skins. A damp, all-cotton towel used to dry a freshly washed truck even scratches the clearcoat. I installed mud flaps a year ago and have tried to convince myself that it IS a truck and it will get dinged once in a while, but I'm concerned about rust taking over my truck long before it's even paid for. Any thoughts?

My black '06 is really bad as well. If a small twig or branch barely rubs the paint, it scratches all the way to the primer. I use my truck, but am pretty careful as well, but I have chips and scratches all over. Paint quality is definately getting worse...

We live down a half mile gravel road. There is a great anti-chip product by 3M that you claen all the wax off the lower panels, mask off upper part of body and spray on. It is clear and rubbery. I used this on a Toyota 4x4 and Honda Accord. Your local auto paint supply will have it.

Antother solution: Our 02 and 03 have Brown's Welding full length running boards made from 1 1/2" tubular steel and welded diamond plate. Works and looks great.

My '06 3500 Inferno red truck does not seem as prone to rock chips as much as my old '04. 5 which was white. That white truck had rock chips like you discribe and so far my red truck has very few. Might just be the production run.

My inferno red is doing good so far. I have aggressive tires and mud flaps on all four. My 94 pearl blue had a lot of problems,

I am glad I am not the only one who is a little angry at the poor paint quality. You would think it could be a little better for a $40k vehicle. My 2001 paint was better and my 1984 was better than that . . . trend in the wrong direction :-(

The tailgate of my truck has a lot of small nicks which I presume are caused by stones picked up by the tires and bounced off the front of my fifth wheel.

My 06 is flame red (I think that's the right name) but the paint is also chipping quite badly. We drive on unpaved roads fairly often, but the Dodge paint is much more chipped than the paint on my red 03 Ford F150 I sold to buy the Dodge, and it was driven more miles on the same roads. I took it to the dealer, but they said it was normal. Normal for Dodge paint, I guess! It's getting so bad that I'm thinking about putting LineX on the sides below the molding.

'06 inferno red we have is the worst paint we've ever seen for chipping ...

0. 7 miles from the pavement to the house and it's trashed ...

our 85 bronco with 37" tires has less paint chips for the first 6" up from the bottom ...

and i installed the mopar "heavy duty" mud flaps the first day we brought the truck home

As I said, my 06 looks good at 10K. Those of you with a problem . What month was the truck made? Mine was 01-06. Maybe everyone with a problem was with a paticular month.

well, my 07. 5 black is chipped also. I have put a 10 mile an hour speed limit on any dirt roads in this truck (babysitter lives on a dirt road). I am considering having all the quarter panels sprayed with bed liner when I have the bed done. Don't want too, but I don't see much else of a choice.

IThere's nothing that is going to stop dinging of the rockers except a tough coating. Poor design. They curve in right behind the tire. live down a gravel road also, so I Line-Xed my rockers. No worries now. I wasn't aware of the 3M product, but that sounds good also.
