How do I get the factory radio/cd player out of my new truck? My truck is an '06 SLT 6 speed with the base radio/cd. I can't stand it any longer, the factory radio is getting pulled as soon as possible. It sounds like crap, I have to have the bass turned all the way down just to make it bearable.

So what's the trick to getting the fake wood panel off? I can't seem to find any hidden screws and compared to my recently departed 2nd gen, it all fits together very tight so I am afraid to pry.

The new Alpine head unit is ready to go in...

tried crutchfield.com yet? i havent messed with the radio in my 05 cus i dont use it much... my 96 has a sweet system tho

good luck

Remove the panel below the column, remove the scre behind it, remove the screw in the baggy hook and it just pops off. I just pulled it out with my fingers.

His 06 is not the same as your 05... you're description sounds right for an 05. The 06 has a different dash design.

There are 2 small screws (7mm head)that come up from underneath, the rest is held on by clips. If you slide your hand around you will feel them.

I have already done this to my 06 which is the same as yours. Remove the rubber out of the cup holders and take out those screws the floor cover will come off, then there are two screw behind the shifter for the center panel that comes out right after you remove them, you will find two screws that hold your woodgrain panel on they are about beneath the lighter and the 12v power supply remove them and your panel will come off. I DID NOT put those two screws back so remove's easy next time and haven't had any probelms and it's still tight.
