If you see a trans leak under your truck it is a g56. . :-laf

Or just check the build date, someone can provide that for him?

I must have an aluminum case NV5600. NO oil leaks now and never had one, never even seen one on a dealers lot with one ( trans. oil leak that is )

Yeah, G-56 is down and to the left. I don't know why they couldn't put it down and to the right like the rest of the world's truck transmissions.

;) If you had ever driven a real "TRUCK" you would know reverse is almost always on the left, Dodge finally put it on the same side as real work trucks :D

You wouldn't be saying that if you or a significant other were in your truck in the event of a side collision, and either of your lives were saved by side airbags. They do work. Especially with the smart airbags that are now common in many vehicles.

It's unfortunate that you have to be rich (or have the extra money) to have the safety offered by side airbags. Understanding this (and maybe as a result of litigation mentioning what I just did) Honda is changing many of it's vehicles so that side airbags are standard (where available).

Having said all that, I probably won't buck up for the side airbags when I order my '06.

I agree the new airbags are life savers in nasty collisions. However, I do like the fact that they offer things like this as options instead of forcing us (like Honda does) to have it as 'standard'. It may be standard but its certainly not free. I'm sure they inflate the price to cover their cost for the airbags. Creative marketing on there part I guess.

Aside, I can't believe how much these trucks have gone up . I think Cummins makes an excellent motor. Dodge does OK on the body but they do take some shortcuts to save a few bucks which I don't care for. GM & Ford probably do the same though. For what we pay and what we get... ..... well... ... . I'll just keep my comments to myself.

keep in mind that if you compare apples to apples between 05 and 06, that they are very close in MSRP

But did you notice the invoice? I bet these new truck will end up having a lower overall price than the 05's after rebates come out - woo-hoo!

If I "build and price" an '05 at Dodge.com with the same options as your example (minus $1200 for the DVD system), the '06 MSRP comes out $2800 more than the '05 (which is pretty significant). Is there something I'm missing?

Thanks,

Kevin

Keep in mind some of the content of the 2006 Laramie package is stuff you could not even get on an 05 - Like power slider, and a fancy front console, etc

When officail pricing come out, I will do both to show the difference

kellys prices are for 2005

That could be true... but FWIW they do at least have the new 2006 OPTIONS up, like the rear seat DVD system. You can see the new options available at least and I am sure the pricing is close enough for the average persons budgeting purposes.

IMHO, It's better then nothing, which is exactly what is available about the 2006's on Dodge web site at the moment. :(

Are you kidding me ? I just got a beautiful 2005 2500 just short of a Laramie package for 31. 5 before taxes and add-0n's !!!
