Thanks for your input Sag2. I watched the utube videos and would have no problem getting to the back of the dash pod. However, never having soldered before, my confidence in not skrewing up the soldering job and creating bridges etc.is a concern. My eyesight isn't perfect and who knows what a new dash pod would cost if , up jumps the devil . However I will give some more thought to it.

It's not that difficult.
For try scrap an old Radio or something similar and use it to learn how to solder on a board without the risk of doin damage.
Thanks for the heads upWeather you do it yourself or have it done don't tighten the back cover screws very tight, I have read a few write ups where the plastic covers are not perfectly flat and puts stress on the board when the screws are tight causing the solder joints to break, I have seen a few personally where just loosening the screws 1/2 turn fixes the tack - granted did not actually fix the bad solder just let the board relax and make contact again - but point being I leave the screws about 1/2 turn loose anytime I take a cluster apart.
