So much for Dodge consulting a Marketing Study Group and if they did I wonder where they got them from.

Dodge team involved could have posted on TDR and saved time and money unless they are looking for job position justification in which case now have two reasons to be fired :-laf I wonder if fordcummins.com conversion sales increases for 06'

Well I hear at least the new valve cover is now somthing to be desired over that of the previous 3rd gen..... now if it only came in faux wood finish. Oh well maybe for 07'

David - "drove the 06 GM and Dodge" . . . .

did that GM have the Allison 6 speed?

If so, what did you think of it?

Have to agree about the dash - fake wood is ugly!

And overall layout seems to have missed the mark.

Aftermarket grilles and dash inserts will be big sellers for 06's!

What are the two square holes on each side of the heat-a/c controls?

["just there", or?]

Yes JC, it had the 6 spd Allison, just not the late release LBZ. It worked flawlessly and I really liked the manual gear selection feature of it.

The two square holes on the Dodge, are little compartments and the one on the left is replaced with the 4WD control if electronic. Not sure if the right one has an option to fill it.

As far as looks and stuff, knowing it is purely a taste issue, I will say that I think every picture I have seen, I felt the same way, UGLY, including the ones in this thread. But in person I felt way different.

Too funny! You consider the looks of a vehicle traumatizing? You must be older than me to be that easily affected by little things such as the styling on a truck you don't/wouldn't own. My father can be that way. He gets so wound up even over the most irrelevant things (meaning things that really don't affect his life).

To each his own, of course.
You hit the nail on the head with your last sentence.

Speaking of, why has my 06 been sitting in a train yard in Texas since August 5? Any guesses?

So it can sweat the ugly out? :-laf

Those pics look really ugly, especially with the fisheye effect of the camera used to take the pics.

I really like the new truck. It looks tough in person. The cloth interior and the wood dash is kind of ugly, but it will look great with leather seats and an aluminum look dash.

You really don't get a sense of the lines in the truck by the photos. It *is* a nice looking truck. I'm sure all the old timers and nay-sayers were complaining when the third gen came out as well.

If it were up to them, we'd all be driving trucks with first gen styling and 12-valves.

I definately like the Sport better. I think the one thing that bothers be the most is the headlights... they should be all the way on the front of the truck, not the sides of the fender. Wonder how much they cost? On the other hand, I'd be inside the truck and not be able to see the outside most of the time!

Local dealer just got an '06 QC Cummins in so I had to go check it out. I like it. Others have said that it looks better in person than in pictures and that is true. The headlights really aren't that large and the grille looks better than the '03-05 trucks. I like the cloth seats; they look very durable. The dash is also nice and I actually like the wood, along with the wood on the door panels. Kind of gives it some class instead of just more gray plastic. Can't wait for them to get a MC in.

This site sure is funny. Everytime something new comes out, everyone here with the older version automatically says the new one is ugly, cheap, or garbage. It happened with the G56, the Cummins 600, and probably everything else before that.
