After driving a 1500 4x4 for the last 10 years (two of them, actually), I'm really impressed with the ride of my 06 2500. I've been running 60 psi in the front and 50 in the rear (will soon bump it up another 10psi). Sure, the expansion joints on the 91 (those who know So Cal know these) are a little rough, but still much better than my 1500s. There's a road leading into the back way of where I work that Honda probably uses for suspension testing and for finding creaks and rattles (it's really rough), and this truck handles this road very well - better than most passenger cars (luxury cars included). Basically this is with the truck empty but with a Snug Top shell (which did noticably improve the ride).

This last weekend, I went on a trip out to the desert with a bunch of junk in the back and a YZ250 on a hitch rack. Total weight over everything was probably under 1000 pounds. The truck was very smooth on the washboards and in the sandwashes (at all speeds, including too fast :-laf ). However, as expected, when I got to the whooped out sections, it didn't work so well. The front springs were way too soft and the front shocks were severely under damped. The rear springs with the overloads (despite the weight) still bucked (it would have been worse without the weight).

All in all, I'm quite impressed with the overall ride of the truck. I was considering a KORE Chase setup (and still am), but with my garage limitations, I can't afford more than an inch or two (with the sunroof closed) of lift up front. And that's using stock tires.

Stock tires???? Ditch those babies right away. I have run several sets of 285/70-17 BFG ATs on these trucks now and if empty I run 45 psi front and 40 psi rear (no cap) and it rides very smooth. It also looks much better, the stock tires look lost in those huge rear wheelwells.

While it would be nice to dump my tires and spend $800+ on new ones, I'll probably wait until the stockers wear out. Besides, I'm waiting to get good E-rated all-terrain tires in the size you mentioned. Unfortunately, those BFG ATs you mentioned are only D-rated. If I were to ever have an accident as a result of under-rated tires, I'd hate to be at the bad end of a lawsuit (and trust me, it would be bad). Even if the tires failed for another reason, causing the accident, I would still be nailed for negligence. It's not worth the risk.

I completely agree that the larger tires would look so much better.
