I've got an 06 Megacab 4x4 with an electric switch on the dash to control the 4WD- question is can I change over to a leaver operated system with out a major problem? The reason I want to do this is with my SpynTech system, I have to work it back and forth to get in and out of low range, won't just shift in and out - - -I use it for backing our RV up hills in RV park using low range two wheel drive. Any info, help or suggestions would be apprectated

Pop trans into neutral when switching to 4Lo. Or even moving slightly. I used to have same problem. Try that and you may be surprised.

MChrist - - Sounded like a good idea - - but it didn't work, spent 1/2 hour working it and never did get the N to stop flashing red - - - think that means I never got it into Neutral. If anybody has any ideas, please don't hesitate to post 'em

S. Morris - - - - No propbem with the transmission - - - it works fine! it's the transfer case I can't get to shift.

Put the transmission in neutral and turn the switch to 4X4 low range and it should go in, that's the way i put mine in low range and it works, BIL had the same problem and i did his this way and his worked fine, Monte

Putting trans in Neutral releases the load on the gears, allowing transfer case to switch easily. But you mentioned a red flashing N?? I haven't seen that. I have no idea what that is.

I hardly use lo range on my signature truck, but even an auto trans in neutral has enough drag to load a gear train. I find it easiest to momentarily shut the engine off when making the shift, but keep in mind I have the manual TC shifter.

The red light is the N switch - - flashes when you push button - - - steady burn when it goes to neutral - - - no matter what I do with the transmission, transfer case still won't shift to 4 Low

The spyntec kit will have zero effect on transfer case shifting if you are stopped, which you should be to go into low range with the hubs in "free".

The below procedures are from the owners manual. If your hubs are in "free"you need to use the alternate method, if they are in "lock" you can use either.

Preferred Procedure

1. With engine RUNNING, slow vehicle to 2 to 3 mph (3

to 5 km/h).

2. Shift the transmission into NEUTRAL (depress clutch

on manual transmissions).

3. While still rolling, rotate the transfer case control

switch to the desired position.

4. After the desired position indicator light is ON (not

flashing), shift transmission back into gear (release clutch

on manual transmissions).

Alternate Procedure

1. Bring the vehicle to complete stop.

2. With the key ON and the engine either OFF or

RUNNING, shift the transmission into NEUTRAL (depress

clutch on manual transmissions).

3. Rotate the transfer case control switch to the desired

position.

4. After the desired position indicator light is ON (not

flashing), shift transmission back into gear (release clutch

on manual transmissions).

NOTE: If steps 1 or 2 of either the Preferred or Alternate

Procedure are not satisfied prior to attempting the shift

then the desired position indicator light will flash continuously

while the original position indicator light is

ON, until all requirements have been met.

NOTE: The ignition key must be ON for a shift to take

place and for the position indicator lights to be operable.

If the key is not ON then the shift will not take place and

no position indicator lights will be on or flashing.

Cheers! It worked - - - came out after lunch and figured I'd try it - - - engine running, main transmission to neutral, switched to 4X4 high and it went right in put it in drive then back to neutral and put switch to 4Low and it shifted immediately to lo and it worked - - Thanks Guys for all your help!
