Found some 06 stock rims online that Iam considering buying to replace my 04 rims. Need help idenitfying these rims and their compatibility on my truck.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...&item=130022401699&sspagename=ADME:L:RTQ:US:1

For example:

Are these rims really chrome?

Are they alloy wheels, suitable for off road use?

Are they 17x8 w/ 6" Backspace, and 40MM offset?

Can I use my stock caps on these rims?

In other words, would they be an exact replacement for my stock steel chrome clad wheels? (see below)

Joe, There is no exact answer for your question about the wheels unless you know the wheels came off a Laramie truck. The Laramie trucks come with chrome clad aluminum wheels, 17x8 w/6 1/4" backspacing. The SLT trucks usually come just with chrome only, but they are the same exact size.

The sport comes with a polished face aluminum I believe. Things are more confusing now than what they were in 03' or 04' for wheels. Hope this helps! By the way the chrome cladding on the aluminum wheel is actually a plastic chrome cover over the aluminum.

I'm no wheel expert, but those look like polished alloy, not chrome. I would also assume that since the truck and axles haven't changed, that the wheel specs would also be the same. The caps may be different. You could call a dealer and ask if there are different numbers for the caps between years.

At close to $500 (when you factor in the shipping, mounting, balancing, etc. ) they seem expensive to just get another set of stock wheels.

Went to Ebay link. Those are definitely the chrome covered aluminum wheel. They look scratched up to me. And I wouldn't pay any more than a couple hundred for the wheels at most. Good luck.

Those appear to be the same ones I have on my truck and they are polished aluminum, They have ones that look exactly like those but they have a chrome clad over them, which my brother has on his 06. So I have seen both styles and those appear to be the polished aluminums. Not the claded wheels. And yes they will fit, mine were originally off an 05 and I put them on my 06.

Have him send you the code on the inside of the wheel. The dealer can tell you what it is from that. I bought one for my spare for $75 shipped to my door of and 05 and it matched my 06 perfectly. You can also look that code up on the internet too.

Would there be that much rust on the backside after only 300 miles? It does look like a Brillo or 3M pad did a number on 'em.

He doesn't have any feedback yet. Brand new to eBay or can you create a new identity if you have negative feedback?

A friend recently bought 06' Takeoff's from the dealer for $400+tax. They bolted right on to his 99' CTD. His were aluminum wheels with a plastic/chrome facade.

edit: the $400 included tires/wheels mounted/balanced.

I have been looking for a stock set also,I like the look of the 06 rims and wanted to mount 315s on them, and when I go in for service work put the stockers back on. so when I need new ball joints or universals they can't blame the over sized Tires

The rust comes from the hub on the truck. So that is normal the wheel can't rust it's not made of iron. I don't think they are scratched, I think it's caused by the photo. I think they just need to be wiped off. See if you can get him on the phone, would solve the scratches and feedback problem.

Here are the parts numbers off the rims.

p/n 52013663AA

17x8JISO-43. 18

C210

M 062305 2

Is there a place I can cross check them today online?

Anyone recognize these numbers and what model year the rims are for?
