07 auto shifter handle problem

Does anyone has any experience with the automatic column shifter with the o/d, and gear select problems? When i sometimes down/up shift with the switch, i have to tap on it to get it to work? it also moves up and down about an inch (with me doing the moving). Is this something i can replace?

When you move the lever, do you just push it up and down or do you purposefully pull it back and then select the gear? From your description it sounds like someone has just shoved it where ever they wanted it to go and wore it out.
Also, and you probably already know this but that button has two modes I believe.
