07 Charger R/T arrived today

What a weird buy this was, went into the DC parts department for some Ram parts and on the way out (through the showroom) the wife says. . wow thats a slick car. So I say, well set in it and see what is feels like, don't ask why I said that cuz I haven't a clue. Then a salesman hops in and hands her the key so off we go for a test drive.



As much as she loved her PT Turbo it was just too hard to pass up at a year end 10K off on a car like this. The discount was so deep they wouldn't give a fair trade in offer so the PT is up for sale now. For a big sporty sedan the Charger R/T is hard to beat.

Engine built in Mexico, Trans build in Germany, Car was assembled in Canada then bought in the USA!



I see orders are being taken on 08 Challengers now and price should come down more late in the year as more affordable R/T's start to show up vs the first SRT8's. Should be a hit with the 2-door crowd.

We saw one of those there too but they were in the 40's. The 6. 1 has a nice layout under the hood.



Ours is autostick too. The thing I like about the RT is the 5. 7 drops cylinders under cruise for good mpg's. It takes regular where her PT Turbo needed premium.

On allpar.com, they have a comment about the challenger having a convertible by 2010, that's what I am waiting for. As for the 08 Challenger, only 4500 to be built, colors are limited to silver, black and the orange if all reports to date are correct.

According to that page. The first trans option is an auto-stick. . I was so hoping for a REAL 6 speed manual.

I won't buy one with out a manual 6 speed.

My plan was to wait a year after my truck payments are done (09) and then get a new second car. And a challenger was going to be a nice pick.....

I was at Sacto. Raceway (1/4mi. drags)about a mounth ago. A guy racing there had an 06 four door Charger that was turning 12. 1 sec. ETs and 115 mph.

I noticed he was running drag radials and an after mrkt. exhaust system. In talking to him in the staging lanes, he said it was his daily driver with a Hemi, a HP cam, and some head work,no nitrous.

That car was very impressive.

As a Charger SRT8 owner, I concur with that statement!!

I could arrange that but am too embarrassed at the moment to post any. The dealer had these 22's on it that make it look awful IMO. Part of the deal was to get the factory R/T 20's that are suppose to be on it back on and when we bought it the service dept was closed so we are driving a gangster car for now. Snow is on the way so she's tucked away in the garage.



The rears rub and the sidewall's are shredded, luckily no fender damage yet.

I've surprised a few SRT-8's. Some of which had females riding shot gun. :-laf :-laf The first time to loses to a CTD, he'll change his mind I'm sure

I am an active member over on Chargerforums, and a couple of other LX and SRT forums. People over there don't believe me sometimes when I tell them what our diesels our capable of - even though I drive one myself.

I am thinking my first bomb will be to install Viper bulbs in the high beam slot.

Matt, that would be the place. You just have to wade through all the Charger vs Mustang posts, and the numerous street racing threads. But, the performance and modification section has some good info.
