I've had an '01, '02, '03, and now my '07. The previous three trucks all came with a block heater cord, and they were very easy to find, located on the passenger side in the intercooler/radiator area. My '07 doesn't seem to have one ( 5. 9 by the way ), at least that I can find.

I also haven't seen the wait to start light yet. It was 40* at my house on Saturday, and even though my truck is garaged I still thought I would see the wait to start light, and it didn't come on. What gives ??

I was wondering since the truck didn't seem to come with a block heater cord, could it also have a warm climate program in the ECM ? Does something need to be enabled for the grids to come on ? I don't even know if they have warm or cold climate programs, just thinking out loud.

Jeff, My '07 also didn't have the cord but it DOES have the heater installed. Man, It seems like Dodge is getting chincier by the year!! I pay 33,000 for a truck and it doesn't come with a block heater cord or a cigarette lighter element. The socket was there but no lighter..... Sorry, that is extra! I don't smoke but it just galls me. The block heater is in the same place. Buy a cord of of Ebay or the autoparts store. I took the one off of my 01.

Ya I think it's crazy to sell a Cummins without a block heater cord in an area where during the winter it's not uncommon to 0* or a little less .

I didn't figure a standard auto parts store would carry a block heater cord, but I'll give 'em a shot.

And I guess I'll wait for it to get a little colder before I really start to worry about not seeing the wait to start light.

block heater cord

I'm still looking @ 2 different 07 5. 9 trucks & was reviewing the window stickers & saw one of them had a block heater cord listed for $10. I asked the dealer about this, thinking the other truck did not even have a block heater at all. He informed me that this is just the cord - the all have the block heater.

Just like the previous post, I talked to my local Dodge dealer who I think is a pretty good guy. Iasked him especially w/respect to the new 6. 7 CTD PLUS the bluetec how does Dodge plan on keeping this truck affordable. He told me that they are always looking for ways to reduce costs, w/the idea that they do not want to loose a customer. He might complain about something missing, but still will buy the truck nevertheless.

A good example is my 99 Laramie. It has power lumbar. It appears to me all the '07's Laramie's I've looked @ have manual lumbar. I like the power lumbar, but I'll still but one of these '07's even though they have the manual lumbar knob now. So along w/no heater cords, no cigarette lighters, eventually I would guess full size spares might be added to the list ?

Mike. :)

You can get the cord from your local Cummins dealer for about $12. They are alot more from the dealer or parts house--if they have them.
