'07 REC NAV unit in '06 ???

Anyone fit up a REC NAV unit from an '07 on an '06?? If my understanding is correct, the only major difference is the backup camera on the '07 unit which the '06 does not have. All other connector's the same?? I plan to buy the '07 unit for my '06 and also plan to wire up the backup camera.

You could also go with an aftermarket system and save some $$$. Check out the pics in my gallery.

Well, that's a detail I forgot to post. I'm looking at a used/takeout REC from a 2007, not a new one. It's about $600. The only aftermarket NAV that I like is the Pioneer AVID D3 which by the time I add all the whistles and bells I wanted added up to nearly $1500. I don't think NAV is worth all that much...

Not to hijack the thread but I have a question for Modified Diesel. Did you do the install yourself? I have an AVIC-Z1 and when installing I could not find the speed sensor wire and the illumination wire. If you installed you NAV unit and know the location of these wires it would help. Thanks
