High cost of fuel cans!!!!

Anybody paying $6/gal yet

My brother-in-law has an 08 Ford Super Duty F350, Powerjoke with the built-in brake controller. The dealer told him that the brake controller is a BrakeSmart. Somehow I don't believe that and it doesn't look like a BrakeSmart. Does anyone know for sure. I have a case of beer bet with him.

It is not a Brakesmart. Ford teamed up with Tekonsha to develop the integrated system for Ford. You can do a Google search for Ford TBC and find the info. It is even listed in Wikipedia.

My questions is, why doesn’t Dodge put a trailer brake control in all of their heavyduty trucks as a standard option? It is standard in the GMC and Ford trucks with the tow package. Only a question….

Heck, I'd be happy with a full rack of factory installed gauges, let alone a brake controller:rolleyes:

I agree 100%, what’s a truck with out a simple transmission temp. gauge…. Maybe the 2009 model year?

It is standard equipped on 08 Ford Super Duty. I don't know if it's only with the tow package. As far as I know, GM is not standard equipped. Dodge/Cummins does have the standard equipped exhaust brake. That's far better then a brake controller.

I don't know about the '08 Ferds but earlier models with factory brake controllers deactivated the trailer brake controller below 15 mph which meant no trailer brakes could be used for stopping a heavy trailer below 15 mph unless the driver grabbed the manual apply lever. Seems pretty dumb to me.

I'm very happy with my owner installed BrakeSmart. I wouldn't want a factory installed brake controller with similar stupid programming like Ferds.

And I agree with Grizzly's post above. Given the choice I'm much happier with an effective exhaust brake feature than I would be with a stupid brake controller.

Not everyone has the same needs or preferences relative to trailer brake options - I prefer that the truck be pre-wired, and I can then make my own choice for a controller that meets my personal needs and wants...

Gary, I agree with you and Harvey.

You have a great web site. Make me want to go to Oregon again and we were just there last October.
