Just trying to find out what rear ends you can get in the '08 6. 7. I've been looking at window stickers and on the option side they are listing both the 3. 73 and the 3. 42. I know you can't have both. I would be more interested int he 3. 42 for better interstate milage. There's plenty of power there. My '98 has the 3. 54 and I'd still like a taller gear. Salesmen at the lot are no help either. Anyway, with the deals on the left over '08 it looks like I might have to get one.

Merry Christmas everybody!:)

The 3. 73 work great with the new 6 speeds both auto and stick. If you are goint to tow heavy alot thats when I would opt for the 4. 10's. But those are the choices. Not sure if you can get the 4. 10's with the manual though.

From what I have seen and noticed while trying out the options @ dodge.com3:42 Gear option is for 09 only and with a Manual Transmission. In the new TDR magazine it showed what the final ratio was with 3:73 and the new Asin 6 speed Auto and it would be close to that 3:54 final ratio. Look it up.

I thought you could effectively get two different ratios on the newer trucks, no? I test drove a truck that had a "light load" button - which was kind of like having a two speed rear-end... ... or am I crazy?

The 3. 42 is great for a lot of users, there's been lots of threads on it, a search will find some of the gear / speed / RPM info that I compiled and posted in these threads.
