I have noticed most of the replacement front springs are 3-3. 5" of lift. I am not interested in lifting mine that much. Anyone know of 1-1. 5"?

Thanks

I installed the Lorenz Bilstein 5100 Suspension System on my '03, 3500 4X4 about two years ago & have been happy with it.

Originally, I was interested in replacing the stock shocks with Bilstein's & decided to do the suspension upgrade. It includes new front springs, rear leaf spring packs, shocks & other stuff. The system raises the truck slightly, close to what you are looking for.

With the stock system, if I drove over neighborhood speedbumps at anything over 10 mph. , I would bottom-out the front suspension. Since the installation, I have never bottomed-out the suspension & have gone over the speedbumps at 20 mph. The system seems to work.

I took a friend of mine, who hated the ride on Dodge trucks & has a Duramax 4X4, for a ride without telling him about the suspension upgrade. After riding on dirt roads that were sometimes bumpy, he mentioned how nice the truck took the bumps. I was surprised that he noticed without me prompting him. This guy is EXTREMELY fussy & I trust his impressions. If HE noticed, there is definately a difference!!!

The front springs & shocks seem to have much more absorbency to bumps, now. I think the system works.

check husky spring from rock auto, their "super duty" is rated at 1,000 lb over stock and provides 1" of lift at an affordable price

depending on the ride you like check the spring number on your truck, adding the OEM snow plow springs will add 1" to 1 1/2" to the front but the ride will be stiff

there are several older post under 2nd gen regarding the weight rating on the various factory coils which have carried over to the 3rd gen I believe

my 1 Ton 4X4 dually has the tow and camper package but only 038/039 front springs, go figure that (the snow plow package could not be added) I have the 046/047 springs ordered and should have them in less than a week and installed the next, many would disagree with me but the 2" spacers and 2" to 2 1/2" in lifts require new control arms in my opinion, especially on 2nd gens that had numerous front end problems, I lifted the front of 3 other 2nd gen's and swore I wouldn't this truck

the only negative I see to the Husky's is they are weighted per side to compensate for the driver and fuel on the drivers side of the truck

LBartlett,

Thank you for the information. I also said the same about lifting. I lifted both my 96 and 2000 dually & said I would not lift this truck. I am just tired of bottoming out so easily. I do currently have Bilstien 5100's on the truck and the made a huge improvement. Just looking for a little more.

Like I said, I have the Lorenz front springs on my '03, 3500, SRW, 4X4 & did not notice a harsher ride. If anything, it has a more supple suspension, now, & I have never bottomed it out. However, I do not "jump tall buildings in a single bound", either.

If I was in your shoes, I would LISTEN to BOB4X4's advice. He has forgotten more than I will ever know on these trucks. He owns & installed these fancy suspension kits & knows all about them. You will end up with a high quality suspension that WORKS properly & as designed. What he will recommend will be a true suspension. Not a lift kit. It will be designed to work. Not just look cool.

Chaw, what are your spring numbers? many would not like to go near as heavy as I am but I'm more interested in loaded performance than unloaded ride, with 200k my springs are worn out in my opinion, I am going back to the yellow/blue bilsteins that I've ran before and really liked.

These guys might be worth a call Coil Spring Specialties -- individually calibrated coil springs for any suspension need.

I've heard good things about them and they will build you exactly what you want

They will also supply a worse than factory ride ;)

Trucks bottom out because they lack enough travel and or not enough shock absorber to handle the speed of the hit. It is very rare that it comes from not enough spring rate
