2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission 1/2 ton to 3/4 ton

Does anyone have any Idea if the frames on the half tons are the same as 3/4 ton as far as the rails go I would really like an extended cab and would like to keep my motor etc. and just switch the axles, motor, trans. into a short box extended cab truck. any ideas.

The 3500 and diesel powered 2500 have 9. 5" high frames. All the rest have 7" high frames.

also the rear leafs are narrower on 1500s I think they are 2. 5" and the 3/4 & 1 ton are 2. 75" or 3. 00"

Keep your frame and swap the cab and bed . I believe the regular cab and extcab short bed frames are the same length.

I think the body mount pad locations will be different for the regular cab and the extended cab. Before doing anything check that. The bed screw holes in the frame are probably different too. The cross members under the bed may also be in a different place.

My wife has a '01 extended cab and I have a '99 standard cab. The frames are different to accomodate the different cabs.

lengths are different too, reg cab long bed is a few inches shorter than a quad cab short bed
