To those of you that have installed a DTT TC, how do your 1/4 or 1/2 mile times differ from stock? Are you quicker and faster or slower than stock? I'm into clutching snowmobiles and if it reacted the way my truck does I'd have to make it shift faster. It seems like I have to power to make it shift right thru the gears and with a 91% TC I think it'll do that, at least it will make the motor work. I was just wondering what happened to you guys when you added one. Do you have the power to gain speed and time or is it too efficient for ya to power?

TIA

Corey

I have the 89 TC and after the install the take-off from standstill was slower than stock. I was not pleased and added a DDTTM and the slow starts were a thing of the past. IMHO you have to add more power for the DTT TC's to shine. I have no regrets.

I installed My DDII's and DDTTM and guages then did the transmission with the 91% and VB my transmission went from mushy to nice and tight, it shift really well in all driving conditions:D According to Keith at DD i'm pushing 425-450 HP. And according to KwikKurt calculation I'm in the low 14's in the 1/4 mile but, I haven't been to the track.

I can only give you a partial answer on this as the VB/TC were the last performance BOMBs done and I did not do pre/post 1/4 mile times. I can tell you that with the stock VB/TC the engine would, under WOT conditions, keep the TC at its stall speed of about 2600 rpm and would consequently shift through the gears with little change in rpm. After the DTT stuff was added, the rpm was brought down to about 2000 under the same conditions between shifts, which by the SOTP meter improved acceleration by staying in the middle of the torque curve. However, from a stop, the DTT parts decreased performance by not letting the engine rev as much and takes a little longer to build some boost. But, when the boost comes up at about 20 mph from a dead stop, it will break both rear tires loose on dry pavement for a few seconds :D

Did you do your transmission mods or did you have them done locally, I talked to Stefan the other day and he wanted me to drive to Dallas to have them done, I'm making a plan but the other truck has to sell before I do the transmission.

I did the laying on my back in the driveway for a whole day kind-of-thing. James (Inarush) comes highly recommended by Bill Kondolay and works out of Dallas.

I just picked my truck up today after having the DTT TC/VB installed. AS recommended by Bill K. I went with the 89 TC. Also per Bills recommendation I used James Northram at All Pro transmission. I left my truck with him late friday afternoon and he was finished with it early Sunday afternoon. I think he usually can get it done in one day but I had him do a couple of extra things to it. I would highly recommend James. On my trany which only had 27000 easy miles on it he pulled it went through the entire transmission and replaced any parts that showed wear. He also made some lube mods to give (I think) 3rd gear more lubrication. He is located about 20 minutes outside of Dallas in Midlothian TX. It was about a 60 mile drive for me and on the way home I just couldn't believe how great the transmission works. I hated the fact that it was such a short drive.

Corey,

Your 1/4 mile times will improve if you can efficiently use the power. Your problem will now become traction. Also power the more that you have the bigger the difference. The one thing that you should do on the starting line is build up the RPM's so that the boost hits earlier. If you are looking for results from the track give me a call at the shop and we can go over it.

Thanks for the info, James E-mailed me today and I E-mailed him back on the subject to discuss price ect, When I get the old truck sold I'll give him a shout and see what we can do, Kinda bad that no one around here has any experience with Bill's stuff, Thanks again.

Thanks Bill/Stefan. :) I'll be calling the shop pretty soon to talk about it. I'll also be asking about an installer near MN, so be ready.

well heres my 2 cents , when i went from stock to DTT 91% tc i actually went a bit slower , maybe a couple tenths , that is due to a bit of increased turbo lag , this is going off the line , i'd have to look but 15. 8 down to a 16. 0 ... but building boost at the line the best i could muster stock was 15. 48 ... with the DTT 91% my best coming out with boost was 14. 94 , this was with with about 15psi and using [censored] as a traction aid , without [censored] 15lbs of boost just frys the tires ...

dd3's and a 93% TC has me at 14. 38 , street tires ... no slicks ... wwwwweeeeeeeeeee
