it makes no sence to me about spinning tires for higher mph, to me if you think about it your just waisting time and distance,

is this more of your training mopar?

I found the same thing about spinning tire improve ETs on high reving low torque gassers. My 71 Mach 1 351C was that way until I started launching it at 6500 RPMs using a trans brake. Spinnning the tires get this type of motor into it's power band faster and gets rid of the bog.

IMO our truck do best hooking them and letting our low end torque mosters do there work.

Its not an unusual thing at all. I bet 9 out of 10 race/street cars go faster with SOME(not smoke rolling off the tires) tirespin. I cannot and will not try to explain it... becuase I have absolutly no idea why lol. I just now it happens so I deal with it :D

Bad340fish, It has been my experience that after a car or truck starts running in the 12. 50 ETs and faster tire spin kills ET not helps. Any tire spin at all with my Mach 1 dropped the ET . 2-. 3 off of its 10. 40s.

IMO our turbo diesel will do the best when hooked up and loaded to get boost up fast. Tire spin won't load the engine and the boost won't climb as fast.

10:40's? wow! thats fast Dee.

I thought my little mustang was fast to run a 10:90 on Nitrous.

Thats fast.

Don~

No drugs in my Mach now but once we tried N2O and we didn't have enough tire for it.

The best ET was 10. 42 @ 132 MPH up here in the high(4200 feet) dry dessert. Not bad for a 358 CI motor:D :D  :D  :D

So far I only ran the track one night... Made several green mistakes. . But launching in 2wd I ran

15. 3 et

93 mph... .

This was without the new ladder bar

and the latest KS 12cm... . Or the new B-1

It was also 95 or 100 deg F.

I am sure I am in the low 14's or better and will try the 4X4 Launch plus I will fix my LSD and Give Kat's ET's a challenge soon. :D Then I will start chasing Adam!!:D

Timing!

my best run was 15. 40 before i advanced the timing, the first run after timing was a 15. 16 backed up buy 15. 18,15. 17 not bad for just a timing mod!! o ya also forgot that is through a stock trans:eek: should have trans done after first of year:D

Mike65 the muffler that I run is a rhino muffler. You can get it at any Midas shop I believe.

Adam,

About Mopars comment I experienced this situation with our race car on several occasions. We use a throttle stop at the bottom end in order to acheive our index at the time was 10. 90. At full throttle our car ran a best of 9. 96 @ 135mph but would normally run 133-134mph , and on the stop we consistantly ran in the 135-136 range. The resoning for that was that our car would run past its power band by the end of the track when going full out. But when on the stop it would go through the traps in the power band. I am in the same boat, my truck runs fairly respectable times with less hp than alot of people. My fastest E. T. was 13. 78 @ 94. 26mph. But my fastest MPH run was a 14. 08 @ 96. 48mph. So I am a prime example of what Mopar is talking about. If this is part of your training it doesn't seem to be wrong to me. Adam do you have something against Mopar or something?

adam , what are you talking about ????

let me guess , are you running the entire quarter in 4wd ??? is so you would probably go a bit quicker if you get it out of 4wd , but if you take it out of 4wd you are probably experiencing wheelspin at the top end because of the HP and torque you are making ... the only way to fix that is either stay in 4wd or put on stickier , wider tires , ie slicks ????

before the dd3's and 93 TC my fastest MPH was 88. 98 , but with my quickest ET 14. 94 it was 88. 67 ...

as far as that crack about my training , i'll say this , my training allows me to do a either a complete trans install , or just a VB install and have it live longer than 3 months in someone elses truck , because if it don't I have to pay to fix it , I'M not getting more parts for free to fix it if i do it wrong

also i had to pay to travel 3000 miles to get that free training ...

as far as my bad attitude earlier, I'm over it. If it ever comes up again, I won't hesitate to go into battle.

I would gain by not running the whole way in 4wd. The thing is I only ran the one time the night I ran the 12. 67 and was so excited I forgot to take it out. I figure it should be worth 1-2mph on the top.

I'll wait til next year to try for a new 4x4 record. After the dyno thing next weekend I'm taking the lpg off for good and going to consintrate on making more hp with just Nos going to a 2 stage nos system. I'm hoping next year I'll break into the 11's. At that point I will try and convince myself that I'm done again. :) at least until you guys start catching up again.

I have been playing with the 4x4 and I don't think that the T-case is really coming out of 4x4 when racing guys. True the lever pops right out, but I can still feel the truck lurching at low speeds while turning until the light goes off. The light doesn't go off until I take the interference load off by backing up. What do ya think is giong on?

I can tell you when I remember to take mine out, the light does go off.

the light is suposedly connected to the slip collar on the front end so if it goes off, its out.

My light is currently non functional... ... . but when I shift it out I can tell its out because at the end of the 1/4 its much much happier at that speed. WHen I turn off the track by then the hubs are unlocked.

What will really scare the heck out of you is if its not locked in all the way... . and you give it full throttle and it pops out... ... and the truck goes sideways :D Not that I know anything about that... ... hehe

CAnderson , i thought the same thing at first , but when i take it out , the light goes out right away ...

maybe i'm not putting enough power to the ground  . after about 60 -100 ft i'm out of 4wd , won't get a chance to test the HX40 till the spring , unless i can make it down south to a track that is open . with the HX40 i shold be well into the 13's and around 94-95 mph ... i also still have my old double hot PE , i think i can use it now with the 40 , i'm going to put it on in the morning and see what temps i see if the roads are dry ...

CC I'm seriously impressed with this new tc. I'm really glad that performance for our diesels is continually improving. I'd deffinetly like to see one in service.

I ran those numbers locking in 3rd and 4th. I had lockup in 2 also I just didn't know it. I know have more power and a tighter tc so I will improve on those numbers next season.

If you want a test mule I'm sure I can help with that in one way or another. :)
