Hey guys. There is a article in the recent Farm Show magazine ( vol. 28, No. 6,2004 ) about a fellow in Pittsville, Wis. that has a 1989 dodge cummins with 1,780,000 miles on it. Thats got to tell ya how great those cummins are!! check it out on www.farmshow.com. . Just thought id let you all know if you havnt alresdy seen it.

My Dad subscribes to Farm Show, and he gave me a years' worth of back issues about a month ago. The name is kind of misleading because it covers so much more than farm related stuff. Lots of articles on Cummins and other diesel stuff. There are all kinds of articles on gas/diesel conversions in just about everything you can imagine. For people who like to tinker, swap, invent, improvise, improve, recycle, turn junk into useful stuff, etc this has got to be the ultimate magazine. Lots of fantastic shop ideas and money-saving ideas. I am going to subscribe to it and probably buy the CD too.

Hmmmm...........

For some reason I'm having a hard time seeing past 100,000K on my 53 block!

Not to say mine won't make it to 500,000K, just a little air out of the bubble about the whole thing.

AKDrifter. My former boss got rid of all his chevy diesels and got cummins. He bought a 95 with 100,000 on it and now has over 500,000 on it and never touched it yet and it is abused hard by the hired help!! He also owns a '99 and two '01's and the only problem was with the '99 at 200,000. The knot head kid workin there didnt tighten the oil drain plug. To top it off we got the engine loose and kept driving it. Figured it was ruined anyway and he was gettin a rebuilt but the thing is still goin the last i knew of. Those cummins are tough !! That farm show magazine is full of great ideas . A great magazine to read. Just thought id let ya know the experiences ive been around on the cummins AKDrifter. My . 02 worth anyway.

That many miles couldn't have been on origional engin, trans, rear end. . Could it?? Plus I had no idea that the rest of a Dodge could hold up that long. . I just hope my 53 block will last me to 200,000 but somehow I doubt it will. .

i've got 511,000 on my 94 rollback,,,,,, 1 NV4500 (lost 5 gear) 2 clutches,,,, 1 injector pump at 486,000 othere than that it been shocks, tires, brakes, fuel and oil,,,,,,,, and it brough in a lot of powerstrokes and a few duramaxes on the back,,,, (although it have carried in a cummins or two)

I went to vol. 28 no. 6 2004 and didn't see the article. Where do I look?

The article is not online. I tried finding it a month ago when there was another thread about this truck. I thought about ordering it in printed form but found out the article doesn't give much detail. I was hoping to be able to substantiate the story and find out more information.
