Competition High EGTs vs. High Boost

Competition Here's a crazy one for you.

I will be going out to Redline Raceway in Greenville Texas this Friday night.

What kind numbers does everyone run in the 1/8th. I have 04. 5 auto with TST, AFE intake and straight exhaust. I also have 33" tires. I am hoping to see around a 8 second run. What do yall thimk?

Also what is the best way to launch.

I have tried diffrent ways just playing around on the road.

It seems to be the best when I build about 15-20lbs of boost then never let off. I have also tried shifting manualy.

If anyone else is going to be out there chime in and I will try look you up.

That's very optomistic. Running 8 in the 1/8 would put you in the low to mid 12's in the 1/4 You should be looking about 9. 5, this should put you in the high 14's and with your mods even this may not be possible. A stock transmission would not hold the HP required to run in the 14's IMO

More than 15lbs boost in 4X4 is taking a risk with those stock shafts.

Try launching in 2X2, if you get traction 4X4 will be no faster just more stress on the drive chain.

Shifting manualy for me was slower.

Just go have fun, that's what it all about.

On edit: My best 1/8 mile time was 8. 7 @ 80mph (33" tires)

I'm local, give me a call and we'll try to set something up.

10lbs is more than enough with a stock transmission. Keep in mind 4x4 w/high boost launch and stock transmission doesn't mix well.

Also, on a side note.

You missed the last ODRA race at Redline it was 9/18. We had 18 trucks run in the brackets and numerous others run fun & grudge.

We have another event (Dyno) Oct. 23 in Mesquite, and possibly rent Redline Oct. 24

Give me a call I'll help you with your truck.

Thanks guys. I had no clue at the times I would run I was just guessing.

I am going out there Sat. night not Friday. Friday they are racing Saturday is test and tune. I think it starts at around 6 pm

Wes, I will give you a call.

Thanks , Brad

Brad,

Call me whenever you get a chance if you miss me leave a message and I'll call back as soon as I get it.

I'll have to do a little rescheduling, I planned on Friday not Saturday so give me a call and we'll figure it out.

I've got a customer that if we get him put back together he should be running mid 7's. Oo. We'll see  With the luck he's been having lately he'll frag another driveshaft or something.

Just thought that I would let everyone know that all went good this weekend.

My best time was a 9. 7 at 73mph that was in 4 high launching with about 10 lbs of boost.

Would like to say thanks to Crawler (Wes) He went along for one of the runs to give me some pointers.

MDW,

Why didnt you give me a call, I would have loved to watch the 11. 7 in person. I was suppose to go Saturday, but got stuck with taking my daughter to Austin. I just went down with a bunch of Hemi guys and decided to see what I could do without tearing it up.

Still trying to decide if I want to go over the deep end.

Great run Michael. I still think you should do the roll-cage.

Hi all.

I'm a newbie here. First time post. Don't spend much time on the computer but thought this site was pretty good.

I took my truck to Irwindale Speedway last Thursday (9-30-04). Irwindale is an 1/8mi track in SoCal.

Thought I'd post my results to see how they rate with you guys. Been in gas racing for many years but this is my first foray into diesel performance.

Truck ran 8. 49 @ 85. 73 with a 2. 11 short time on 33" AT tires @ 25psi.

This is the best et & mph run to date, but the worst 60' time. I forgot my helmet so I launched at about 5psi boost to try to not get thrown out. I didn't expect the truck to et or mph like it did, so I got thrown out anyway. I've ran a previous 1. 82 short time on these tires.

Found out later that the overflow valve which I had replaced a while back due to breakage wasn't up to snuff. Stretched the spring out to 1/2" and replaced. Cured some hickup and low pressure issues. Will re-dyno and track test shortly to see if it made any difference. Definately made a difference on the street. Feels as good now on #2 only as it used to with the meth engaged.

Truck specs;

1995 2500 2wd, 5. 9 12v, auto, club cab.

370 marine injectors, 3200 gov springs, delivery valves, #4 cam plate, ported head w/incolnel ex valves and 60# springs, HX35/40 hybrid (limiting at this level), AFE intake, Snow performance meth kit, Msaine performance converter and trans, garbage can exhaust, 4. 10 gears. 436HP, 976TQ on Dynojet chassis dyno. HP and TQ figures are @ 2350 rpm. Couldn't hold the tires on the rollers below 2350. Hope to work on that with some ballast for the next time.

MSaine

Welcome to the TDR! 8. 49 in the 1/8 mile is pretty good, should put you in the low 13's in the quarter. Was that run using the Meth?

hey msain i saw you there, talked to you when you were in line, your truck ran pretty good, even the announcer was surprised. i have the blue 2003.

Thanks for the support. It doesn't run bad for a work truck!

Future plans are for twins, pump (still using the 160hp pump), 4000 gov springs, and maybe couple of other things. Eventually I want to push this barge into the 11's in the 1/4.

Anybody got a B-1 turbo for sale?????????????????

I ran a 8. 21 @85mph with a 1. 77 60ft 15lbs. launch just upgraded trans all billet shafts new DTT drum and a lock up switch looking for a 7. 99999?

How bout some info on a B1? New or used.

I do intend to eventually go to twins, but finances don't allow that for now, so I might upgrade to a B1.

I'd want something capable of 55psi, and good for street use. I running an o-ringed head with stock gasket and bolts, so I probably should not exceed 55psi, at least until I stud the head.

Anyway, let's talk about what you can do. msaine1213@aol if you prefer email.
