A question for those with Mopar aluminum driveshafts including those who upgraded from a 2-piece:

How has the aluminum held up to the road salt and Mag Choride binder encountered on the roads and highways? Any corrosion or pitting of the aluminum? Are the driveshafts clearcoated?

Looking to replace a 2-piece with a 1-piece on a 2004. 5 but concerned with the longevity of the aluminum.

Thanks, Kevin

I've had one on my 2005 for almost 3 years. No special care and plenty of salt exposure. Still looks good, no corrosion that I can see.

I have the 5600.

I have been looking and it seems like 52105655AD is the correct number. Just wondered if other owners had used that one.

On another forum that I follow.... this one piece shaft is very popular... its larger and heavier than the OE from what I've been told... Large diameter and large joints... sounds like the right fix... http://www.driveshaftspecialist.com/Truckhtml/Dodge truck.html

If you end up with one of these... I'd be interested to hear what you have to say... or if someone else here has one.. please share.....

I would assume that any kind of clear coat.... any of the polyurethanes.... should seal them up and prevent problems over the years...

Unfortunately there is NOT an oem aluminum driveshaft for the NV5600. It has a different length then the one for the G56 or 48RE That being said, it wouldn't be too hard to have in emade from a reputable drivetrain shop like the one Jelag mentioned. The one piece DS I run on my g56 has been bulletproof.
