I guess it would depend on how much grinding on the stock profile you did to answer this one,,A #10 plate in my 98 stick will rock and roll and provide what most are looking for at the start, till the boredom sets in and you have to have more power,,Your 96 will be a little less in the power dept than a 97-98 stick will be but you should be happy for a while... ... Actually, the 96 5spd was also a 215hp motor like the 97-98 (as long as it's not a CA egr truck).

If you grind your stock plate to the exact profile as a #10 plate, you'll get the same results as an original #10.

my 98 with a #11, and 191 delivery valves is on the verge of kicking the clutch to the curb... . guess its time for a CON FE, or a CON OFE... I could not imagine what a #10 would do in my truck... Probably something like :--) or maybe :D

Chris, you've seen what a #10 does on a dyno. :)

It will definately smoke the stock clutch. Mine would go through the stocker before the 370's went in.

MIne was in the stock position for a while, then I moved it all the way forward. Can you say EGT's??!!

A few weeks ago I slid it back about halfway to stock. I lost a little bit of bottom end but the power seems to come on where I want it now. It seems like it was sort of bogging down with the plate slid full forward.

I am running mine in the stock position and needed to be gentle on the pedal as I slipped the clutch in 5th going up hill. I put in the 370s last week and turned the starwheel WAY back for both smoke and power control as I haven't done the clutch yet.

Anyway, last night I was held up by the car ahead of me at a stop light in the middle of three lanes, while ALL the cars I had passed streamed past me to the left and right. I thought a little SMOKE was in order.

Unfortunately CLUTCH smoke!

Piers laughed when I told him I would keep a light foot until the clutch was done. True, True.

Yeah, he laughed at me too when I said the same thing. Actually, when I picked out the #10 plate from his box of toys, he asked if I wnated to go ahead and order the clutch too. I told him I'd just be easy on it. Yeah right. .

Then he and about 100 other people got a laugh out of me when I take off after installing the plate at the Texas Rally last year, dropping the "go pedal" to the floor and blowing the turbo hose completely off because I forgot to tighten it after I installed the plate.

Hey... ...

I have a #10 in right now. I have an auto as you can see. Original 180hp pump. I had a #6 before. I never really noticed a huge difference between the two. Never did any dyno or 0-60 test, but I may send it back for a #4. The one thing I did notice was I went from 38 psi to 41 psi with the #10. I gotta call back Piers and see what he has to say. I also need a turbo. I think an PDR HX 40 will fit under the hood.

got smoke... ...

Weren't you pestering me on a different thread about my #10? LOL I better act soon, I have had the plate for over 30 days... ... .

Ok...

So I had a little brain fart on the 96 5spd HP. Now that I have been humbled I'll now go back to my corner and add the dunce cap... ... .  Andy
