Does anyone know where I can get a 10" drop draw bar?
Last year I had the 8" drop, but it was marginal at best(with stock height tires), and since then I went to the 265's.
Reese used to catalog it, but I cannot find it on their site now.
I'm dying to get out in the camper.
HELP!!!!

Drawtite 2706 has 11" drop from the top of the 2" tube. It's rated 300 lb tongue wt, 3500 lb trailer wt. The max drop on their 10,000 lb ultra frame sollid steel ball mount is 8".

Biggest drop I could find for a heavy duty one (Draw-tite, rated to 10,000) was an 8". I'm running 285/75R16's on my 4x4 though and the 8" is just perfect, every trailer I've hooked to is level.

Hitchweb.com has one from Putnam that is adjustable with a 1000/10,000 weight limit. I believe it's over $100, but I haven't found another one cheaper yet. Hope this helps.

I just put an 8" drop bar on my truck for towing my trailer. With no load on the hitch, the top of the bar is at 17". With the trailer on (4000 lbs), I think it dropped to about 15. 5". The trailer was within 1. 5" of being level, front to back. Close enough for me. I had to have our RV dealer weld on a plate for the stabilizer bar. Cost about $40. On my Jeep, I used a Drawtite trunion bar equilizer hitch, which weighted about 100 lbs. Now I can use a simple drop bar at about 20 lbs. I'm #ad

I'm with Steve, biggest drop for a heavy duty one I found was 8". Any more drop and the rating dropped fast also, in fact they made sure you didn't try to exceed the rating on the longer drops by providing a smaller hole for the ball shank.

Although liability enters into this suggestion, why not manufacture your own? There are welding shops all over that I'm sure would work this project for you. All you would have to is paint and go. With the right design it would undoubtedly be heavier duty than what you can purchase. Just my feeling...

The problem with a 10" drop is the amount of
leverage it puts on the reciever hitch. With that much drop there is a good possibility
the side plates on the hitch could crack or
break. I'm speaking from experience. Had a 10"
drop & my hitch broke. Rick

Thanks for all of the ideas guys. Joe, I have to have the added weight capacity. Title says 3500 lbs, but I called the dealer who originally sold it, and they said "it MUST weigh 5500lbs". ??
I'm first going to try the local RV places to see if they have anything left over from last year.
I can probibally have the welder at work do it for me. I know he'd cretified (welds reactors etc) but I hate to bother him, unless it's no longer available.

Patriot,

Call 1-800-932-8373 (Weaver Distributing). They have a 10" drop rated 8,000 lbs with a 1" ballhole for 40 bucks or a 10" drop rated 10,000 lbs with a 1. 25" ball hole for 68 bucks. These are adjustable hitches so you can use it for other applications down the road. The have a piece of metal welded at 45' to reinforce the them. I have one for pulling my 2 horse bumper pull with rides pretty low. I forget now if mine is the 8 or 10k?
