Along with my '97 CTD we now have an '01 3500 CTD which I am planning on using as my 'permanent camper'. I am in the advanced planning stages of having a 10' utility body constructed for a 10' Alaskan camper. The reason for doing this is that the camper is 10' long anyway and the amount of storage that can be obatined with a utility box of this length should be more than enough for most any kind of trip.
Questions to those who might know - what experiences (good or bad) have you had with a set up like this and what ideas for cutom add ons do you have?
I have not received the drawings back for final approval yet and I already have some changes that I want to make. So far the box will match the footprint of the camper (to eliminate wasted space ahead of the wheel wells), I will have the frame extedned for the additional length, there will also be a receiver hitch. All lighting will be in oval shape to include brake, running lights, reverse and backup lights. (The camper will be bolted to the new body so this really is a permanent setup) Any ideas or thoughts would be appreciated!!
Thanks, Earl
