'10 3500 with 42000 miles. starter went out. $1400 from chrysler. $200 with my ext warranty. 42k a little young for new starter isnt it??
He only paid $200isnt the starter part of the engine and covered by the cummins 100K warranty??
If not, I would take it to a reputable rebuilder and have it fixed or get a reman from them... the dealer is making a HUGE markup!!
A little heads up... ... ... all the Cummins parts shot up after the Bankrupcy. Coincidence I don't think so.
Priced a reman starter for an 01 yesterday almost $700,in all fairness the same model but with off shore parts from a napa was $300. that I had to return because the mounting bolt holes were wallowed out. There are sources to buy new from nippon denso for less brand new.
Buyer beware... . but when you are travelling and it hits the fan what are you going to do??

hhmm... so price went up and quality went down... ??
Do we know if the 4th gen starter is pysically different or amp rating maybe? Seems odd an '09 wouldn't fit.
