I bit the bullet last year, had to buy the Dodge only part,$116, if I remember right.

Spicer part, but Dodge has exclusive on it.

Today, Dads 99 needed one. Called Greensburg Machine, they have a solution for about $25, if your steel outer is saveable.

Slick!

Ok Sledter, I allready Ate an entire Shaft Assy (3 Joints and carrier) That sounds sweet. What is it? Any pics? I don't wannah lose another one #ad

I got my bearing from CarQuest and just popped the bearing and rubber surround out of the housing and put it back in the original one. It works perfectly and is the same as OE except for the steel housing. Bearing cost me $35. 77. P/N HB88508-A

Don't know if my 93 is much different than the second gens. Had a U joint go last out last fall so decided it was time to replace all three of them. Took the shaft out of the truck, took it to a local drive line shop and had all three joints replaced with Spicers, a new carrier bearing installed and the shaft rebalanced. Total cost was $155.

I had my driveshaft balanced when I got my transmission done and it really cut down on high speed vibration.

But for many years with lots of different trucks I have GREASED my carrier bearings with a needle adaptor for the grease gun. It looks like a hypodermic needle and works great. Using this method every 20 or 30,000 miles I have NEVER had to replace a carrier bearing in any truck over the last 15 years.

I had a viabration for the past year in my truck. Had it back to the dealer 3 times and as usual the dealer said they can't find anything wrong. So I crawled under and found the joint at the back of the trans loose and play in the bearing. I did all 3 U - Joints and the bearing for about $125 and got all the parts from a local Rockwell dealer. BTW when I took the U-joint apart there were no needles left and it was full of rust.
