The abs is not working, I slide this sucker sideways at 60 mph and it smoke the 4 rear tires like a nascar.

Now back to the abs, I can not check the pins to see if it has fire or grounds because I dont have a pinout showing me which ones should have ground and fire?

The Check engine light NEVER goes thru a check, When I turn on the switch the light comes on at the same time and DOES NOT BLINK and does not check itself. It is just a steady burn!!! SO I guess it is doing no self test!

If I unplug the abs computer light goes out...

HELP!!!!!

any diagrams can be sent to -- email address removed --

when u turn the key on, and the check light stays on 'til you fire the truck up, it is going through it's self test.

In other words the check engine light, the abs light, do NOT blink during a self test. During a self test their on solid, unless engine is running in wich case say's i have a problem here.

Have you done anything anyone here has told you ?? You're not making it easy for us to help you by not replying back to each post that could help. We need to know who's advise you think is best and then try their solution. If it made a difference, post it, if not, post it.

Does your master cylinder have a brake fluid level sensor in the reservoir ? If so make sure it is up. Tap on the side of the reservoir. Is your brake fluid up to par, in both color, and fullness ?

Now run through each post, print it out, check EVERYTHING everyone has already told you, and let us know, good or bad. Only way we can help you.

Also how is the condition of your pads, rotors, shoes, wheel cylinders, drums ??

Good Luck

Curtis

yes I have done everything form unplugging the trailer brake controller to checking vaccum lines under the battery box to checking all wires including the plugs behind the front wheel well, replaced the rear sensor, replaced the brake light switch, removed the abs computor and checked the positive and ground to it... they are good!

I check the ring in the rear, it is in place and is not missing any teeth(another 50 bucks for fiuld) I checked the wires going to it, I checked the rear brakes both sides and there is not leaks! I unpluged the switch by the master cylinder on the front of the truck... . light still on, I unplugged the valve assembly under the master cylinder... light stil on. I check all fuses, I have locked the truck up and power slide the rear until it left 50 foot dual black marks... I have done everything... could not respond to ever post because I was out in the shop taking the dang thing apart time after time. Believe I have done it. My light comes on when I turn the key on and never goes out until I cut it off. There is no wire to get the codes from. ay more Ideas? I also even unhooked the trailer wires in the rear. The dash is apart and the ABS module is lying here beside me. ANy more HElp?

JW, yes I'm sure the sensor is good, seeing as how you replaced it. On my '97 , the HARNESS it hooks up to was bad causing my problem. The wires were all fine it was a problem INSIDE the harness that took 60k to show up for whatever reason. Thats where I think your problem lies. Also, to get codes you must cycle the key 3 times to get the codes. Key on, off, on, off ,on. Then it will blink at you. Let us know.

I can turn the switch on and off all day and the obd2 codes will flash, All I get is 55. . it will not display ABS codes this way, only obd2.

The best thing you can do instead of pulling more hair out and spending more money than necessary, is to take it to a place that can read the ABS codes that are in the ABS controller. They simply can plug into the OBD2 port under dash and click on ABS and the codes should appear. They should advise you after that. These ABS systems are very complicated when it comes to electronics, spend a lil more $ and have someone read the codes for you. Maybe AutoZone, as much as i hate to say it.

Well, lets see

I was so mad at this truck and this ABS problem that I went to trade it and about s,h,i,t, when I seen the prices of the new cummins, I am already a hater of all the new electronics so I quickly said no way!!!

I posted about this ABS problem and I got some really good ideas but no one hit it right. I found the problem today and now the truck is fixed!!! I said it is FIXED!!!!

I spent 11 hours going thru the brake system from front to rear and I have checked all vaccum lines, wires,sensors,valves... ect... . well it ended up being the "Vaccum sensor" beside the fuse box under the hood on the drivers side. I did not have a qlue to what it was or did. I just knew my ABS light stayed on. I have replaced that and Now see is like new again!!!!

I love my truck and will keep it forever!!!!!

thanks Guys!

JW do you pull a trailer had the same problem with 97 3500 while still under warranty dealer told me to disconnect the ground from the trailer wiring harness and just ground through the ball may sound weird and a long shot but the light has not stayed on since.

JW,

Now that you have it fixed I'm sure you are :D :D :D , so I'd like to respond to this guy. This dealer that JAH took his truck to is a prime example why Dodge dealers have such a lousy reputation. The trailer harness ground wire he speaks of is the same wire I told you to check by disconnecting the brake controller. I'll bet a six pack of any malt beverage that the wire harness plug under his fender is full of water just like mine was. So JAH, if you read this PM me and I'll tell you exactly where the connector is. It is criminal how some mechanics will pull a half *****ed stunt like that rather than dig out and use a wire diagram.
