Competition NW Dyno Day... Big Dogs will be there...

Truly didn’t see the effort, but the jest on this site is that any one can accomplish the lofty goals if they only had the dollars. There are a few that thank that they could run fast if they had a light truck like mine, or a dragster like Scott , but that simply is not the case , every one should strive to get rid of as much weight as possible , I even applaud Richard in getting his truck under the 6000 lbs with driver , took a lot of work skill, maybe he can now out run Fletcher .

The main thrust of my first post was to downplay the apparent dissing of Richard's efforts and results - I have NO DOUBT he's spent lots of time and dollars on his truck, broke and upgraded MANY parts along the way - and to downplay his results just isn't accurate or fair!

That also goes for ANY here or elsewhere who are doing the same with their trucks...

It's certain that applied EFFORT alone cannot get a fella too far down the road to success in regards to power increases - it DOES take substantial $$$, along WITH effort to reach lofty goals...

But truth is in controversies pitting effort alone vs $$$ alone, *I* would hafta choose $$$!

In a contest of one guy using ONLY research, experimentation and effort, vs a guy who simply strolls into a MAJOR diesel performance outfit, gives them a blank check and his truck, with the instructions to "give me a MINIMUM of 1000 HP, and call me when it's ready" - who would any of us REALLY bet on to reach that goal?

It may be viewed as the "wimpy" way to do it, but I wiish *I* had the excess $$$ to do that! :D :D

Comp maybe you should build a pulling truck since you have conquered the diesel pickup racing world.

See if you can beat some of the Indiana trucks.

just as some of the greats don't seem to do well on my side of the fence ,why would you think I would jump over there and look a foolish as they appear on my side

I have an engine order , from some one who wishes to remain anonymous , I along with Ray at RAYMAC will be building up a few customers long blocks this spring

could you elaborate on this please?

are you saying that you are using a stock long block?

heads ... block etc

i have been tippy toe-ing around at my current hp / boost (45) level for fear of hurting something ... head gasket, piston

never see pyro in excess of 1400 and then for less than 10 seconds

back to the topic:

simply amazing maddog ... would love to see your truck run down a track someday ... bring it to indy this year

Well then, Joe mis-typed, because we know 800 on #2 w/twins has been done. What thread did it come from?

I do my own work and found it worthwhile. Twins may be good, but with a ported head, Sickly got 800 on #2 with one turbo. The guys with twins haven't been able to do that without drugs.

edge products

well from what my auto tech teacher told me, if i remember correctly the auto trans is computer controlled maybe thats what edge did electronicly. maddog might remember him, his name is jim warnick. also i would like to meet maddog one day (i also live in utah) becuase of what i have heard from my teacher, his truck is really amazing. maybe maddog could get on and clear up the dyno numbers and probably every other question we have. jmo

I was told Richard used drugs on his 800+ run. Regardless, he, Jim, etc. will get over 800 on #2 only sometime if they haven't already. They are running twin turbos. I admit I was stirring the pot a bit, since nothing had been said for some time about hp #s and it was about time :D I'd still like to see them run over 800 with a screwdriver through the second turbo so only one is working Oo. Or, lets see 900+ using both of them, since twins are supposed to add about 100 hp. May Madness should be interesting.

Last I heard, ole sickly wasn't turning those numbers out any more. The name must of came true. It must not have been able to handle it. :D

I like the screwdriver in the second turbo..... too funny, I can sure feel the Love oozing out on this thread.

I have large doubts about 900 HP without N2O, might be able to do it but that's with someone elses budget and knowledge. Might be better to just stop were it's at or get rid of it as it gets old quick when you have to start working on it(like now) instead of driving it 500 miles a week.

My last dyno number was at 797 on #2 only and 848 with water/meth if you add the 7% correction factor of Vegas that was on my dyno sheet from MM 04", of course this is my 17/19 MPG daily driver using a 130+K stock block motor with no aftermarket cam... . new or reground.

Hope next year will net me a little more with the new short block sitting the in the garage, proper cam, proper pistons, ect, ect, but then I'm just a little ole' blue collar Navy dude with limit funds and knowledge.

Jim

I'm just an old barn boy trying to prefect an ideal sanitizer to prevent udder inflammation so I can get all 14 of theses Holsteins milked before the Ramrod gets back from town.....

Couple of things to share....

Maddog good job...

When i say this i think i may speak for quite alot of people on this board with less income, and less knowlege.

You impress the hell out of me. For the simple fact that you lay down big numbers and keep calm and collected all the time about constant jabs from others on this board that have relative unlimited budgets.

All i can now say is good job and keep it up, and sorry to hear that you have to work on your truck more than you can drive it. I hope to see the day that you can make your twins spin enough to reach 900 HP.

As for the transmission, I believe Maddog uses a BTS built 4R100 which if anyone knows ford trannys BTS (Brians Truck Shop) makes the best, and all without Edge doing a thing.

When Maddog dynoed at ATS there was a big stink between his #'s and the D-max #'s with their correction factors which still hasnt been figured out. Those posts got pretty heated.

Curtis, the work has been plan for quite some time, Piers has been waiting on me to get the money, time and make up my mind on what I wanted so kudo's to him.

The solution is in the garage, new short block will all the bells and whistles like the correct pistons, cam, 14mm's ect and I'll use my same single O-Ring configuration in the head as it was fine, no cracks, no warpage and had an unbelieveable bite on the head gasket. Even though I had no issues with the 12mm studs I elected to go to the 14mm's for more bite, so we'll see how it goes.

I was there at ATS that day. I was the voluntary "smoke deflector", along with Evan, an ATS employeed, using a plastic creeper to delfect the exhaust out of ATS old shop. Let me tell you, Maddog's stacks get freaking hot and that exhaust covered me up!

Was a great experience. Good thing it didn't come off the rollers, I would have flown out of his truck bed!
