Anyone else see the article about the "Tough Truck" in 4-Wheeler magazine? The guy is from BC and has a p-pumped 24 valve suburban with twin turbos and is claiming 1022 hp and over 3,000 lb/ft of torque. Impressive numbers, anybody know anything about it?

I believe it. My 12v with 35/3b combo makes 1365hp and 3177 tq. And it only takes adding three runs to get it. :-laf

I think I remember reading about this surburban before. I thought it was one of Pier's projects. I doubt it makes 1022 hp unless it is on drugs. Maybe it made around 750 and a 35% loss in the driveline was added to the number :D Also the torque number seems a little fishy!

150 psi of boost regulated to 50 psi

this thing is either an engineering or wishfull thinking marvel

it aughta put the sub in the 9's right? ;)

The truck is in Kelowna, where I live. They made some big claims to a friend of mine 150-200 psi and 1000 - 1500 hp. I was skeptical and asked what it would take to get there in a previous post. Maybe I'll take a run over there one of these days to see it for myself

The four wheeler article says 1022hp and 3400ft-lb. It is a p pumped 24 valve. It makes you wonder because 1022 isn't an even number so it seems like he may have actually made that much hp. If it was an exageration it would probably just say over 1000 hp. I bet the torque is an estimate. According to my math he would have to be making 1000hp at 1700rpm on up to make that much torque and we know that isn't happening. Why would you run turbos big enough to make 150 psi and then limit it to 50psi? Seems like running a smaller set would be better if you only want 50psi. Article also says two holset turbos-don't most twin setups run something besides a holset on the bottom?

It is a neat ride though- air bags and detroit locker front and rear, 44" boggers

I think the top of the sides/door are going to take a serious beating in the Top Truck Challenge tank trap and canyon sections-that sub is way to top heavy and wide for that course. I guess I'll have to buy the DVD when it comes out.

In god we trust, all others bring dyno sheets :-laf

I just wonder how that can even be trail-able!! I bet that triple disc is just awesome 4-wheeling. I can just imagine seeing a 6000 rpm hill climb!

enterprise triple disc clutch

Hmmmmm...

I wonder if EEP knows they build a triple disc clutch or if their pulling customers realize they do. Somehow if they did I feel it would have leaked its way here to the TDR first instead of being installed into a "Urban Legend" Chevy Suburban... ... ..... Andy

The editor is the one to blame I am sure, I have had my rig in a couple mags and I always give them the correct numbers, last article I filled out the paper work I told them I had 717 RWHP and to boot, I gave them a copy of the Dyno sheet because I thought they were going to include it in the artcle. Well 5 months later the article comes out, no dyno sheet, and it says I have 736 RWHP and here is another kicker, says I laid down 1,833 ftlb tourque  I was ******, but wasn't much I could do about it.

Thus, the moniker is born:

The subUrban Legend

I just found this thread in the conversions section.

https://www.turbodieselregister.com/forums/showthread.php?t=94587

I believe its about the same Sub-850hp and 1500ftlbs sounds more realistic.

Here is another thread that I think is about the same Sub mentioned in the above thread. Not much info just a lot of :-{}

Plus it has one of Xcummins brightest moments included.

Yeah its in four wheeler. Makes a lot of sense to have a truck with 44 inch tires with 850 hp and 1500 ft lbs... . what a waste, and id like to see how many parts are broken daily...

Pretty much on par IMO :)
