2004. 5 six speed 4x4.

At under 1k mikes, I removed that cat and drove my truck just as it was for the next 102k miles.

After the warranty ran out I bought the following: Diamond Eye S/S turbo back single exhaust, PSM air box w/ ProGuard filter, Cool Hose and CFM+ intake manifold.

Just for fun, I wanted to feel the affects of the cat again so I welded it back into the OEM exh. Not much change except that I felt that the turbo took longer to spool up.

I added each mod seperatly in order to feel changes, if any.

(1) CFM+, The only thing I noticed was that the engine warmed up a few minutes faster. Too hard to tell about the performance. The theory behind the CFM is probably better than it's enhancements.

(2) PSM mod w/ ProGuard filter, no noticable change.

(3) Cool Hose, nothing exciting either except that the turbo whistle increased. Nice!

(4) Diamond Eye, My favorite. I don't know if was a combonation of all (4) but my truck came alive- not huge, but better than stock. Nice growl through the gears but little drone at cruzin'. For the buck, not a bad deal for an exhaust. Sort of a pain to install, though. Nothing fit just perfect. But with a little bending and tapping, it all went well. The hardest was forcing that head pipe onto the turbo- Maybe they're all this way?

Before too long, I'm sure I'll add gauges, injectors etc, etc. It's only money right? Mods are all knew to me. I'm on my fourth diesel truck, my 2nd Dodge and having fun. Before I just drove em' till they quit.

Sounds like some good mods. I just purchased a Diamond Eye five inch exhaust hope it's not too hard to install:-laf.

Gauges are on their way!

Gonna change the DE muffler though. Thinking of trying the Donaldson. The DE muffler has a funky idle tone that's been driving me nuts. The best description I can come up is that it sounds like a plastic grocery bag flappin' rapidly in the wind. I even disasembled the complete exhaust yesterday just to make sure that I didn't have a small leak somewhere. Also hooked up our trailer today and made a trip down the road. Too loud for my taste. I't seems like the Donaldson is the cheapest route for a fix so that's where I'm headed. I'll soon find out!

Muffler eliminatior kit, cheap, sounds better (to me) than any expensive full exhaust replacement I have heard, lowers egts and the turbo spools quicker. Why anybody spends more than $70 on exhaust baffles mods me.

I have had the CFM+ on the truck, off the truck and back on. I'm not sure why you couldn't feel the difference, maybe the fuelling box makes it more noticable on mine. HUGE difference in low end response and much lower egts.

After the airflow mods, add some fuel, a fuelling box is the quickest and easiest, though I am also a big fan of injectors and will be doing them next.

Whats funny is this is the first of my five CTDs I have modded at all. I took all the mods off a few weeks ago due to dealer warranty paranoia. I drove it stock for a few weeks until I had time to re-install my toys. I used to wonder why guys modded these trucks, after all, they are pretty stout stock. Now I wonder how anybody can stand to run them stock:-laf The truck is 10 times more fun with a few mods, and much much quicker.

Good luck, it is a slippery slope:)

I will add injectors and feuler after the gauges are in. I unfortunately, bought a full exhuast sytem. Starting to think it was a waste of money. At least the polished exhaust add some bling, . . . I gues?
