Well I got my #10 and boost elbow installed tonight, with some over-the-phone long distance help from Charlan.

Well I tried to line it up as best I could with the lever hitting as close to the bottom of the plate as possible.

Didn't get finished till 9:30PM, took for a test ride and as soon as I tried to use some of the new power my clutch slipped!:{

Oh well my resurfaced flywheel arrived today from SBC (thanks Peter!) so my new clutch will be in Saturday!

Also if I make it to the end of Dyno Day in Nashville my 300 marines will be going in courtesey of Stroke This 24V!:D

Providing UPS get's them here by Friday!

Also when I tried to test the power I saw my boost needle getting very friendly with the 4 of the 40lbs boost on my boost guage. I have a custom setup that I did on my AFC housing if I take it back to stock will it bring my boost down?

What can I do to get my boost back down? Charlan blew his HX35 with just 49lbs so I'd like to stay as close to (really BELOW) 40psi as possible

Did you install the boost elbow? If so take it out and go back to the stock line setup and your wastgate will open sooner and prevent high boost.

Yes I did install a boost elbow

How much will it cut me back down to if I reinstall the stock one?

Does it stay around 40 or does it just spike up there and level out at a lower boost level?

Does your boost elbow the one with the allen head screw in it? If so, just unscrew it hair and take it for a ride, then adjust it some more if needed. I run mine around 36# of boost.

I used to run it around 40 all the time with no damage.

You gotta remember, charlan is a maniac. :D I think he's one of only a few that has actually damaged the HX-35 turbo.

I was just getting ready to make a post on puting my #10 plate in. Wow what a difference. And I only steped up from #11 plate. I can see why thay recomend a better clutch. Only issue I might have is with towing. EGT are around 1400 unloaded. As I keep telling my self just one more mod. and im done. Know im working on getting the PDR HX35 to help the egt and next week one more deg of timing for a total of 16. 5 deg. See how this will run. Truck ran best 1/4 mile run before was 16. 23@83mph with the #11 plate I feel it will go high 15 sec passes now. :D  :D

#10 and towing = the start of an expensive quest to kill the egt monster.

Not me but--16cm or HX35 turbo, Scotty or AFE filter, ATS manifold, 24 valve intercooler and the only thing that really works is keeping your foot out of it.

There really is a limit to usable hp.

I have thought about a #10 plate and 370's but right now that is as far as it gets. Before I starting adding fuel like these 2 items can do. . I want to have an member of the HX40 turbo installed first.

Right now I have the PDR HX35/14 and it is a wonderful turbo! It spools right now but I am not sure that it will flow enough air to take care of the EGT monster.

Rick

Put a 16 cm exa. hsg. on the turbo it will drop some egts and my boost is only around 35 psi with very little smoke after 1500 rpm.

Well I'll probably end up getting a 16cm housing from a buddy in another month or so.

I haven't even really got to see where my EGT's are because my clutch won't hold the #10 when I get on it.

I guess I'm really gonna have to do something about EGT's when my 300 Marine Injectors go in.

Probably get a Scotty II for my birthday, if I can wait that long!(july! )

Sounds like your going to need a new turbo. Do you plan on up grading to the HX40 ? My truck is very similar to your truck. I was planing on geting the PDR HX35 and leaving the stock inj. and raising the timing to 16. 5 deg. I was looking for a combination I could tow with with and have min turbo lag. Good luck and keep use posted on how you like your new inj. And how thay efect your egt and smoke.
