twins with an interesting top turbo! :D

I'm curious what that top turbo is. I was looking at the pictures on the his website and when I saw holset I had to look twice. HX-40?

Thats a damn fast run man!

Don't get to confident about beating Corvette's though.

Theres a guy with a stock C6 Z06 vette on DR's that runs 10. 80's.

His story here

Imagine what it could do with mods?

Anyways, props for building a damn fast truck!

12V's run good when you lean them out a bit don't they, if there not lean enough just add a little bottle. The EGT's will scare you unless you ignore the gauge though. My current setup is nailed with the small injectors, just in time to make the next change.

Sorry guys I don't have much time to get on here.

The top turbo is one of those new Garrett Powermax water cooled Ballbearing turbos. The bottom turbo is a lowly BHT3B.

Egt's at the end of the run are just touching 1500 degrees.

Here's a pic of the new setup:

BTW: Whats all the talk about the corvette? I wasn't racing the corvette I was racing the clock. I left the line when the boost was right. I didn't even know what was in the other lane.

As far as the truck running clean thats easy to explain. I ran out of money :) But its a bonus. Makes it easier to drive on the street too :-laf

Smoke is power, if you aren't smoking going down the track you must be running nitous. That's what the Cummins guys always tell me.

Tomac, I think most anyone that doesn't know exactly what's available for diesels would say that. . Your truck is a very impressive ride. .

yea smoke was cool when i first started doing this 8 years ago but now i only like it for tailgaters. smoking out the crowd at the track gets old. it kind of like the 1st cummins you ever buy you rush out to cut the muffler off and do a turn down under the cab..... it doesnt take long to get old.

that is a great set upf of twins. very original!

agreed, my old first gen would put out a good puff when you first romped it...

I had my 97 set up so that it would black out the northern hemisphere... I thought it was so cool (and it was fun at times hehehe)

but anymore, it drives me nuts when I'm just driving around and I look back and see a big cloud. when the big injectors go back in, I'll definately be tightening up the AFC... I don't mind a little haze, but the novelty of black smoke has pretty much worn off for me.

Sweet run! I'm surprised that it's clean even when building boost against the converter... I've been pleased with the results of the new BB Garretts... most folks seem to really love them.

yeah I try to keep it under control. with a job where you test opacity i can't be blowing clouds my self. .

That's coming from a guy that got a ticket while driving a diesel VW. The law could only see the vehicle in between shifts. :-laf

I try to keep the soot down whenever possible... it's hard to do with the Dodge, but I always try.

running that clean when boosting at the line and then all the way down the track, are you guys not worried about running to lean and that hot? I would think you would be pushing limit on the piston and cylinders lub and integraty after a bit of running the track like that.

I also thought that is why guys look for smoke and haze down the track to let them know how much nitro you can feed it with out leaning to much.

I thought the only way you can run a diesel to lean is to stall from not enough fuel?

Someone please clarify this! I thought lean was only in gassers?

well, with the twins, Michael is getting plenty of air, which means that he is burning most, if not all of the diesel inside the combustion chamber.

with overfueling, your EGT's can get out of hand quickly because there is not enough air inside the combustion chamber, resulting in excessive black smoke

I am pretty sure that it will cut the smoke to almost nothing, but most stay away from drugs--methanol, nitrous, or propane
