I just returned from a 600 mile trip with a 9'6" Lance camper on my 06 2500. There were high winds, coming from my 2 o'clock position... . no problem. I have helwig anti sway bar, bilstein shocks, air bags, and tires that are rated at 3750 lbs each. The axle is capable of 11k, I prefer not to have the benefit (dubious) of dual rear wheels. People buying the 3500 SWR should look at the tire weight rating (3195 lbs) same tire, only 3500 has overloads. Some folks would rather have their camper mounted on a Kenworth, thats their call. The rest seems like bovine scatology to me.
