A friend of mine just installed his #11 plate today and his only words were OMG. First he put it in the stock position, that wasn't enough, so he slid it all the way forward and slid the housing all the way forward, he can't believe the power. His transmission has the Suncoast TC and VB kit so he wasn't worried about it holding the power. I wanted to see if you guys could answer a few questions for he and I though. What kind of hp and torque numbers do you guys think he is making with the plate all the way forward? Also, he said it kinda gives out on the top end, not gives out but not like it is on the low and midrange. What kind of difference will he see with Piers 3K spring kit? I hounded him enough that he finally got the plate so I am hounding him now to get the spring kit. Another thing, he said he is making 40psi of boost. Is the turbo out of its efficiency range this high. He has an adjustable regulator on his wastegate so he can lower the boost if he needs to. He said egts never got above 1100, will egts get out of hand if he needs to lower the boost to get the turbo back in its eff. range. Sorry for the long post guys but I told him you guys would prolly have the answers he and I were looking for. I have a 24v truck so this is out of my league. His truck is a 97 auto, 4X4. Thanks fellas

Govener springs Will amaze him! The power range is so much wider. If egt is not a problem I would not worry about the turbo untill it breaks. Thats my own opinion.

What he is seeing on the topend is de-fueling.

Also a little more timming would help the topend a little plus lower egt, better throttle responce ect...

Do some springs, 370s, and maby some Delivery valves, then he will be happy but his egt won't be.

Thanks for the insight Adam. How/where do you adjust the timing on his truck? I have heard alot of guys say 16 degrees is a good number to run on these trucks.

Did he re-adjust the governor lever so it doesnt go under the #11/fuel stop? with it moved all the way foward this may happen.

Forrest,

He bought the plate used from the TDR classifieds and that was the only plate the guy had left so that is why he got the #11. If he had a choice I would have told him to get a #8 or #6.

PThomas,

I will have to ask him about the govenor lever. Not sure if he did or not.

Just a dumb question, but is his EGT probe pre or post turbo? Only reason I ask is his EGT sounds low if its pre-turbo and he still has stock intake, turbo and exhaust.

His egt probe is pre-turbo. He has put a K&N filter in the stock air box and removed the snorkel from the fender. He also put on a Dynomax Ultra Flo muffler. Other than that he is stock.
