So far the automatic to 5spd trade has worked out excellent. SLewis (Willie) is on his way home after a 12 hour transmission swap. We started at 6:30 this morning on Willie's truck, stripped it then reassembled. Everything went real well with the exception of a few problems in the wiring harness.

Both of our cross members were able to be pulled by hand, no

beating, port-a-power, or cussing!! Lots of thanks to Chris Strickland for helping out and lending the shop. Hopefully we'll get my truck running tomorrow

I've got a few pictures to help describe the swap.

First off, Cord completely stripped down the interior. It scares me a bit to see a truck stripped to this level, so I stayed under the truck most of the day. :)

We had to cut and solder 14 wires due to wiring changes from the '94 to the '95 model harness. But they are mostly hidden such as this one.

The interior turned out great. Here are a few snapshots. I'll post more when Cord's truck is finished.

One down, one to go!

Obviously you guys have no fear at all... that picture of the dash taken apart would have sent me to the emergency room!

You guys are awsome, what a job. Hey Cord + Chris its about time to get together again and see how much smoke we can make except Cord has a secret, he makes smoke from both ends.

Man what a day, I just steped in the door from Chris's House. We live about 250 miles from each other, the 5-speed did great on the way home, the AC felt good also, that ones for Chris and Cord. And it just so happened my cruise works great after the swap, Cord and I didn't think it would. I even noticed my backup lights when parking walla go, man what a day is all I got to say.

Great pics guys, hope you get more. Hope this swap works out best for both of yall. Cord's truck is going to be scary fast now with the auto! I'm betting your getting DTT parts?

Andrew-

My first choice is DTT however I also sent ATS a PM to find out more about their products. I told them the truck would only be used for a daily driver and drag racing. I was interested in hearing back from them however it's been roughly a month since I sent the PM..... still no reply. This is by no means a cheap shot at ATS..... just the truth. I guess they don't want my business.

I'm anxious to get the transmission set up and really excited about being able to compete at the strip now. The transmission is going to be installed stock for now with the exception of a few tweaks Chris is going to make in the VB. I have a lot to learn about these autos so I guess Chris will just have to put up with all of my questions... ... or kick me out of his house!!

John- I'm going to be in Waco next weekend in your interested in getting together.

Cord,

You should probably call ATS instead of a PM. I've sent some members a PM and they never opened it. Could be ATS never checked their messages. With all the power your engine has, I think the stock transmission will be toast after less than 10 WOT runs.

Cord, I'm an ATS dealer/installer on this end of the country, and I'm sure their failure to respond to your PM was not a slight on their part, but due to the fact they are not on the forums much anymore. They are working long days to keep up with the demand for their products, as they are also a manufacturing facility serving many transmission shops in the Rockies, and the increased demand for the new TripleLok(tm) has put them into overdrive, if you'll pardon the pun.

I'll be glad to answer any questions you may have, I'd welcome your business. You may email me through this website, or click on the link below for the contact info on my own website. I can also recommend that you phone ATS, rather than email or PM them. Their number is 800-949-6002. Mine is 859-234-3111.

Cord,

I had the same problem when I was trying to contact them with some questions only insted of using PM's, I tried to email them. I got a "failer to deliver" message because of "18 jumps" or something like that.

Whatever you go with, I hope it works better then you could ever dream, but not well enough to beat the setup i'm working on. ;) :D
