My buddy is looking for his first diesel. He's convinced to get a cummins. Should he get a 12 valve or a 24 valve to bomb? He's on a tight bugdet. I know the aftermarket parts for 12 valves are cheaper and they sound great straight piped, but is he better off going with a 24 valve?

Thanks

I like the early 12vs becouse they are simpler , whitch is what the diesels are all about, and that is not becouse I do not like tech. , I've been one of the best diagnostic techs in most of the shops I've had or worked in . One of the problums are the after market does not focus on the older stuff , like there isn't much choise on injectors for the older trucks.

The best Cummin's only comes with 12 valves and is a 94 to 98. 4. With that said, Oh I guess I don't need to say anymore.
