Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) 12 Valve Lift Pump Question

Had to replace my lift pump the other day and want to get another one to keep as a spare.



The latest Cummins number for this pump is 4988747; which I was told by a Cummins tech rep is made by Federal Mogul. Not sure of the price.



The Case number for the Carter pump J936317 has been replace by

J8764714. Parts guy at Case didn't know anything about the replacement because he hadn't sold any yet. Price is around $148. 00.



Has anybody bought either of these pumps? The problem with 2 of the old style lift pumps I've had to replace has been the white plastic priming plunger. Was wondering if these "new" pumps are improved in these reguard.

4988747 at a cummins dealer should be closser to $90. i beleave that they did make changes to the plunger

When I replaced my lift pump a few months back, the new one was different in design. I had to cut the hose and fitting down to make it work. cummins has a replacement hose kit that I got the other day. I got it to fix my quick fix the right way.

I Only Paid 63. 00 For Mine L/p. But We Sell Them For 78. 00 Or So Depending The Customer.

Where did you get the lift pump for 63. 00; I would like to get one to have as a spare?
