Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) 12 valve transmission not up shifting

transmission doesn't want to upshift. 47re, 1996 160k. its getting a new transmission soon, but we'd still like to get this sorted out. won't upshift under throttle, it will when you back off however. So I don't know what's up, this is my friends truck, so I might not be hearing the whole story, and I haven't driven it yet, so I don't know. Thanks

When I had that problem and took my truck to a transmission shop, the tech told me my TV cable or something like that wasn't moving freely. He had to replace it and truck shifted fine afterwards. Total bill was $202.

Ok, so here is the deal, My buddy just got the truck, and he is really new to this diesel thing. His Idle was low, and before calling me to ask how to adjust it he started tampering with stuff. I don't know exactly what he is talking about, but he said a cable wasn't connected on the throttle linkage, he connected it, and started having problems. I told him to disconnect it. And they went away. So, I'm guessing that it was the T. V. cable or something. But I'm not even sure exactly what he was looking at. Well thanks for the input. I'll find out exactly what it was tomorrow, when he comes to get his pump tweaked.
