Does anyone know where I can find an inexpensive 12 volt solenoid valve with a 5/8" nat. pipe thread opening? I built an 85 gallon fuel tank and need to have a switch in the cab to control the flow from the 85 gal. tank to my stock tank. If anyone has any ideas please e-mail me or post a reply. I'd like to find one for less then $50. I have found some but they were well over $100.

Thanks,

Lonnie

You are going to be hard pressed to find 5/8" NPT, I don't think it exists, sure it isn't 1/2"?

Surplus Center is a place in Nebraska that sells new, never used surplus pneumatics, hydraulics, cylinders and valves, motors, some heavy duty. Very good prices. I am positive they will have what you need for under $50 or maybe even under $25. I have bought several 12 volt valves from them. Call and ask for a catalog, they don't do internet sales but their prices can't be beat Tel. 1-800-488-3407

It could be that you have some 1/2" BSPT fittings and that is what is throwing you off, but even that is fairly uncommon. More than likely you need 1/2" NPT as Bill said. For a gravity feed you may want to consider 3/4" NPT as it will nearly double the flow. All of the sources I have are going to be in the $100 and up range, sorry.

Thanks for the info. !

You would think a plumbers son would know there is no such thing as 5/8" NPT!! Thanks for setting me straight!

LSMITH, yes I would agree, 3/4" is what I need.

try doing a search for solenoid valves on e-bay... you may have to wait a couple days until someone lists one, but the price will be right.
