First time post but been member for a few years now. Been reading the forums for some time to, but never have posted just read. Have learned alot on here and need a little help now.

Where is the best place to hook up the 12 volt wire so it is hot when the key comes on?

My truck is a 1999 4x4 Quad Cab auto. When I did my 1996 there was a place in the fuse box, but not on my 99. The gauages are autometer ultra lite.

Thanks Barry

There are a number of wires along the bottom of the steering column that you will see when you remove the knee bolster. I forget the color, but one of them should work. If someone has a 99 service manual, or you can go to the dealership--check the wiring diagrams and connector listings.

If i may indulge in a little poor quality humor, I see your spelling of gauges (or even gages) is unique. I have seen a lot of folks talk about goo-ajes (guages) :D but you really straddled that spelling fence with gauages.

Thanks Joe, must have been first post jitters on the spelling. If anyone knows the right color of wire let me know. Want to finish it up tomorrow.

Thanks Barry

Recommend you buy an inexpensive volt/ohm meter if your going to do wiring... You can pick one up for not much $ and it will probably save you more than once when installing gauges, or trouble shooting... Some common places for accessory keyed power are: spare fuse on inside fuse panel; cigarette lighter; ignition wiring on steering column, etc... ;)

Thanks for the help, got it installed and works great. Also hooked up the PE Comp today, but didn't hook up the pump wire. Going to wait till I get my fuel pressure gauge hooked up. The PE Comp really makes a difference. It wakes the truck up. Can't wait to get the dd2's installed this week.

Thanks and Happy New Year. :)
