At least that is what the instruments said! :)

Actually, the engine wasn't even running! I stumbled across an instrument diagnostic routine that I had not heard of before on another bulletin board and thought that perhaps someone could find a use for it. Here's how it works: Hold down the trip odometer reset button with the ignition initially off. Then turn the ignition on while still holding down the button. When the odometer display shows chec, let go of the button. The instrument panel will then enter a diagnostic mode. It will check every segment of the LED in the odometer, cycle all the instrument panel lights, and then actually step up the tachometer and speedometer in increments until finally reaching 120 mph and 4000 rpms. Not quite sure what I just accomplished, but it works on my 2001 Ram and my wife's 1999 Durango. Next, I would like to figure out if I can play astroids on it.

:D

Cool. It's like those secret codes people get on the internet for games.

I pulled the high beam switch two times turned all the interior lights on and opened and closed the glovebox five times, now my truck doesn't defuel until 8000 rpm. :D I wonder if I can find the code that makes my 44 indistructable?

My 2002 Ducati Monster did the same thing at each start-up - all the lights would light up and the tach and the speedometer would cycle. In my Audi, you can push in a button that will go through a self-diagnostic test, displayed on the screen on the dash. You can do this if the car is running or not - never really got any useful information from it as the system would automatically display the fault if it detected something wrong (light out, low washer fluid, etc). It would be great if they added a feature that would display all the info coming from the OBDII...

Yup! I founf it in the service manual one day. Pretty cool to run. The overhead console does something similar. Hold one (or both) of the buttons in, then key-on. Runs through a segment check and tell you if the buss is working.

"Oh the logic of those running around with a head half full of valves."

I find it quite interesting that ALL of the top HP trucks out there are running P-7100's.

Besides, the 12-valve head is not at any disadvantage once you start modifying it.
