I have a customer who I will be selling injectors to, he has a 96? 12v with a 4" exhaust intake #4 I beleive fuel plate and an 18cm husing. I wonder what you guys think would be a good injector for this thing. well a cummins injector anyway, he tows 10-12k. thanks. Dan

Dan,

18 housing with a #4 plate and towing... . Hmmm... . Adding injectors bigger than, say 215's, is going to give him plenty of smoke and probably an EGT problem. I'm running 370's with a #4 along with a hybrid HX40/HX35 12 cm turbo. It will get hot empty if I push it hard and that's with instant spool up. I've never towed anything (yet) so I can't comment on the difference in EGTs loaded vs empty. Anything from the marine line that he puts in is going to smoke like a train with an 18 housing and a #4 plate. Heck it smokes a lot with a 12 housing... :-laf

vssman is right ask the customer if he will be bothered by the smoke and find out exactly how much more power hes looking for

That depends on whos #3 plate he has. I've never heard of a TST #3 plate and seeing that he's from CT he may have Jannetty Racing's plate in it. Ted numbers his differently and may have a #3. Not sure how it compares to a TST. I know a long time ago Ted used to sell TST plates - I think he may have his own designs now.

First question, is it a stick or an auto. If it is a manual transmission, I don't think I would put any stick in it if in fact a JRE #3 is a TST #6.

its an auto, but it has an aftermarket trans. I neleive a tripple disc convertor and extra clutches. his goal it 800 ftlbs. right now it makes 660.

That housing is not what he needs. I like the honed 215's I run. # 10 plate and I tow at 320 HP. I can tow with ease and not smoke up my fiver.

What turbo are you running? I am thinking about a #10 also, but can get plenty hot towing with my present setup. I control egt's with the right foot.

I have the HX35 with a non-wastegated 14 housing. For me to get over 1300, I have to be pushing like a moron up a mountian, towing my 15,000lb fiver. EGT's is just not something I have a problem with.

Turbos and injectors

TurboTom you are running a stock HX35 with a non wastegated 14cm turbo and honed 215's and don't have a problem with egts. I was thinking about trying something similar. Where did you get your injectors honed at? What hp increase and/or milage increase? I think I need to get4" exhaust first to drop my egt's. How would a PDR hx 35 with a 14 non gated turbo work or would a gated one be better. I just took replaced my head gasket and want to lower egts and boost presssure.

Yeah CR... ... ... ... The 14 housing lowered the heat a good 150 and the 4" exhaust another 100. I do really have to act a fool to ever concern mysely with a heat issue. And yea, the turbo is the stock 35.

The injectors are the one Jeff has honed. We just did mine to see the results. I like um. I'm about a 2 hole size over stock.

With a set of PDR street twins on my truck. I went from BD injectors to a set of Jeff Prince injectors. I gained 10 mph in the quarter and only had 100 degrees more egt with the Prince injectors than the BD injectors. Can't beat a good set of custom injectors.
