Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) 12V Oil Fill Tube R&R?

I need to drill and tap this for an oil return line, and I've done searches on TDR and Alldata.com. No luck.

I can see the top strap comes off, and it looks like the top part of the tube unscrews from the bottom part. That part that returns back into the timing cover, is what I need out, and I can't see how it's held in there.

If I have to pull the timing cover to get it off, I'm going to find another place to return the oil. (I'm inst. a bypass oil filter. )

Any advice on this would be much appreciated.

My Amsoil is done that way, filler tube should just pull right out!

Instead of drilling the tube, I used one of the swivel connections from Amsoil and drilled the filler cap and installed the return line there. Works pretty good.

The long tube unscrews from the 90 that goes into timming cover. The 90 unscrews from the timming cover. They do not pull out.

Rotate the oil filler tube counter clock-wise and pull out.

I was thinking about doing what you did, but my filler cap is plastic, and I wouldn't trust it after drilling a hole in it.

I drilled and tapped my filler tube for a by pass filter two years ago, has worked fine for me.

I drilled and put in the Amzoil adapter in the cap like a lot of other members have done. The cap of course is removable if you want to take a oil sample. I felt like it was more secure this way than doing the side of the tube like some others I have seen on here. On my old readers rigs under my name you can go there and see how I did mine under the Frantz oil filter heading.
