Hey all, another dummy question from me. I was looking to buy a dash cam setup with a stand alone battery for powering the camera in parking mode. The two options are hardwiring with a fuse tap or using a 12v outlet for power. I could have sworn I saw somewhere that there was a kind of harness that you could put in the harness before the outlet and have a second outlet on the same plug. I'm looking for a more hidden/out of sight install for the dash cam system. But after searching the three or so Facebook pages and this forum, I've come up short. If anyone has any ideas, I'm open to them. I've contemplated the painless fuse box but sort of looking for a less expensive route. Also not looking to cut any wires in the harness and void the warranty just yet. TIA

Thanks for the response Davidc, I'm sure it could be hidden and that might be the route I end up going. I'm going to give it a few days and see if what I'm thinking I saw somewhere turns up. It was essentially like a pigtail extension that you would unplug the wire at a factory connector, plug the pigtail with the extra outlet on it and then plug the pigtail into the factory harness to keep power going to the original outlet.

Ozymandias,
I was more so looking to add an outlet in line with the existing harness. Maybe I'm thinking of something that exists only in my mind. I have seen the trick to switching the fuses to adjust which outlet is always hot. Thanks for the info though.

Thanks for posting this! I didn't know you could do that! Saves me the headache of pushing the start/stop button all the time to charge my phone. I just simply moved the fuse over, works great!

My understanding is that this only works with the full console (not the folding seat/console). Do you have the full console (or whatever Ram calls it)?

I got the full console. It only works on the back/rear. Doesn't work in the area in front of the cup holders, under the radio.
