flexyxj - what is the part # for that 190f stat & did you remove/keep the skinny rubber seal around the stat lip?

I got the Cummins 190* thermostat installed today. The old thermostat was stuck open because the rubber around the backside of it had partially peeled off and was between the thermostat and the thermostat housing. It was exactly as described earlier in the thread. Cummins is very proud of their thermostat and the rubber gaskets needed to install. It was 103$. Now it warms up faster and the heater works better! Now if I can figure out what/where the airflow restriction is in the dash, I'll be happy....

. I'm on the road right now but will try to remember to post it for you tonight. I called my local Cummins dealer and they had it in stock.

Sounds good thx.
I'm sorry! I've hunted high and low and can't find the receipt. I do remember calling the local Cummins dealer and he did ask for the last 6 or 8 digits of my VIN number and was able to look up the part number from there. They had a 180* or a 190* thermostat available for my application. I chose the 190* thermostat and it came to about 102$ delivered to the shop that I drive truck for....I don't know if that was a deal or not.....

Hey no problem!all I've been told is that there's no 190 Cummins stat made
for the 12v
if you could call him with those 6/8 digits again and get that part # that would be great.
Im running a second gen stat housing on my first gen, and is why I can't give him the digits :)

Here ya go,,,,,Cummins Part number 3928499. My local Cummins dealer and their sister stores stock them. My 2nd Generation is a 1996 with a 5-speed and 2WD. I hope that helps!

Thanks bud!

thats a 180f stat. I have a couple in the barn.
12v parts specs are all over the place, even at Cummins.

And I thank you for that !

the only viable 195 degree stat still in production that I've found so far is NAPA # 532090.

Mopar # 3418459 is an NOS equivalent.

Both of the above don't have the spring loaded bypass that's OE in a second gen 12v. Doesn't matter in my first gen, I just pipe plugged the bypass port.

A well functioning heater core and the Cummins 180 stat you bought will give good heat regardless.

Hope that clarifies.

I didn't see the box. He tells me it's a 190* thermostat....I don't know what to say....I tried.

I had the ole girl out on the road today. According to the factory gauge, It runs 190* going down the interstate like it should. It does cool off idling around in town like the old one did but it still blows good heat....
